The Masqued Avenger Returns... Pur Minerals Review

Yet another mask to review, but boy is this a good one: Pur Minerals Mineral Mudd Masque. I like a mask that has a purpose, a mask that feels like it actually doing something. A mask that just lays there... well it might be doing something, but I want it to feel like is hard at work. That's just me though.

Anyhow, mask definitely works and makes itself known... or felt I guess. This is one of those masks that tightens as it dries, and it dries really fast considering how thick it is (more on that later.) I have a deluxe sample size tube; mine is 1 oz. while the full size is 4 0z. and sells for $26 from Pur Minerals. Heads up Canadian ladies, save some $ and get it from the Shopping Channel for $30. That ends up costing far less once you figure in exchange, shipping, and customs. Back to the product shall we?

muddy "mudd"

"Mineral Mudd Masque with pascalite deep cleans and detoxifies your skin using a unique form of calcium bentonite clay. This mineral mud facial mask unclogs pores and draws impurities out of your skin, leaving your complexion looking brighter, smoother and radiantly clean. Free of harsh chemical dyes, this gently exfoliating facial mud mask penetrates pores for an invigorating deep clean that won't irritate or dry out your skin." - Pur Minerals

This "mudd" really does look like mud when you squeeze it out of the tube. I was thinking it would be less.. well like real mud considering they call it mudd. The extra 'D' makes me think it should look classier. No? So, you are supposed to apply this muddy looking mud liberally, which is super easy because the product is super thick and very hard to spread out. I find it is easier to get on when your face is still damp and apply with wet hands. It makes the product distribute a bit better.

Once on this mask goes to work almost instantly. You can feel the mask start to tighten up (like you can't move tight) and it keeps tightening until it is fully dry, which only takes 10-15 minutes even though it is so thick. I leave it on a bit longer, usually because I start doing something else and forget about it. Then comes the wash off. Ugh. Don't get me wrong, this is a great product (I love it!) but it takes some work to get it off. I like to take a warm wet face cloth and just hold in on my face for a few minutes to rehydrate the mask to make it come off a bit easier. Since it is dark (and I am pale) it takes a few passes with a face cloth to get it off, but the extra work it so worth it.

I find that after I use this mask my face feel great. It isn't drying, which I wondered before I used it if it might be. My skin feels softer and looks really refreshed and my pores are less noticeable. All in all I have had great results every time I have used this product. A definite purchase when my little tube is gone.

Have you used this mask? What is your favourite mask?
