NOTD: Nicole by OPI "Oy Oy Oyster"

Today's nail of the day is Nicole by OPI's Oy Oy Oyster, which was originally part of the 2010 Summer Collection. This is one that I picked up in a clearance bin a while back and I thought I would give it a wear. This is a sheer shade, and I probably would never have picked it up at full price - $9-10 CAD, but for $1.99 why not?

Two coats

I tend to wear opaques, but sheer shades can be great for those occasions when you haven't done your nails but at the last minute decide you need something on. The photo above is two coats and you can still clearly see nail line. I was going to go with a third coat but I didn't know if it would start to look too frosty. This shade is a very pretty shimmery shell colour with fine iridescent glitter. The name really is spot on because the colour does look like the inside of a shell. I can't see this being a colour that I would reach for very often because it is a sheer, but if I was in a hurry I know I could throw this on and look put together. Even with the hints of glitter, it could be office appropriate. This shade could also work as a top coat, but I haven't tried it yet.

Have you tried this shade? What did you think?

  1. That actually looks really nice...very natural and just adds a little bit of shimmer!

    Great review!

  2. I'm new to your blog and love your reviews. After reading your blog I'm itching to get some new makeup and especially some new nail polishes. I like this color, its very sheer and you're right - it does look like the inside of a shell.

I love your comments! Be sure to check back for a reply from me :D
