Review: Avon Super Shock Liquid Lip Shine

Is bigger better? Well, Avon thinks so, and so far I have to agree. Not too long ago Avon introduced these huge glosses or liquid lip shine as they're calling them. I haven't been into anything that has come out from Avon in quite a while, but when I saw these I had to give them a try.

Size comparison to average gloss tube

Size comparison to average gloss applicator

I picked up the shades Lilac Attack, Tickled Pink and Bronze Blitz, since the current price of $4.99 (will be $8.99) is just too good not to try them. Now, I mentioned that these are huge, just how huge? The tube is about three times bigger than your average gloss tube and the applicator is as well. The tube and applicator are very similar to the MAC Wonder Woman Lipglasses that were out a while ago, but at a fraction of the price.

Huge tube= huge applicator. I was slightly shocked when I first opened one of these. I wasn't expecting it to be so large. As you can see (kind of) in the photo above, these have well tips and can hold a lot of gloss. I can apply gloss to my entire mouth with one swipe. Not too bad! You do have to be more careful with these though, as there is massive suction. You have to slowly remove the applicator from the tube or else it releases really fast and you end up with gloss all over.

The gloss itself is quite nice. I have tried most of Avon's glosses and I would say that this has one of the best formulations. They aren't sticky, pretty good pigmentation without being overly glittery/shimmery and the fact that they have SPF 15 is a great bonus. I don't find them to be drying at all either which is even better.

Lilac Attack isn't really a lilac shade at all, it is more like a sheer fuchsia. While the colour is not what I was expecting based on the name, I love the colour and how wearable it is. As you can see this has light fuchsia shimmer, but they don't show up that much in person as they do in the photo.

Tickled Pink
is a nudey, natural pink ( there is another pink in this line, a brighter more pink shade) with light shimmer. I really like this shade as it is close to my own lip colour and I can apply this fast without a mirror.

Bronze Blitz was my attempt at trying something I normally wouldn't. I thought that this would be a nice summer shade and I was right. It has a bit of a rosey undertone making it really wearable. Like all the other shades, it too has light shimmer.

All in all I think that these are great glosses. Definitely worth $5 a pop and they will certainly last quite a while. Have you tried these? What did you think?
