Swatches: China Glaze Eye Candy Collection

"Forget diamonds! This winter China Glaze introduces a nail industry first: utilizing 3-D glitters in its new “Eye Candy” collection. Inspired by Marilyn Monroe and her timeless allure, this innovative new glitter technology provides a knock-your-eyes-out, super sparkly effect to your manicure. Multi-sized and differently shaped glitter particles are cleverly combined to create a sexy, super decadent, 3-D finish in six bright, eye-popping shades. Whether you prefer gleaming gold or glamorous smoky grey, China Glaze’s “Eye Candy” collection adds a dazzling finish to your holiday look with a glimmer that is sure to catch everyone’s eye!
"

Yesterday, I gave you a preview of the Eye Candy Collection that China Glaze released as part 2, if you will, of their holiday items. Today I got to play in glitter and swatch them. I should note that this collection consists of six polishes, but I opted not to get Blonde Bombshell (I'm not into golds much) and Love Marilyn (which looks a lot like OPI's Gettin' Miss Piggy With it.)

I had some issues getting good photos of these (all the glitter messes with the flash) but I did my best to get them right. Click for full size images to get all the details of the glitter. Also, all polishes shown are two thick coats with no top coat. That said, onto the swatches!

China Glaze Lorelei's Tiara

Lorelei's Tiara is made up of small silver glitter with medium, round blue glitter thrown into the mix for good measure. I think that without the addition of the blue glitter, this would be one bland silver glitter, but the blue really makes it pop. I think that this is my top choice from the collection.

Material Girl is made up of small blush pink glitter with larger bubblegum pink hexagonal pieces and even some holographic pieces, making it very worthy of the material girl moniker. This polish was a bit harder to apply than the others, as it was thicker and a bit on the gluey side. Still very pretty. A more demure glitter bomb, if you will.

China Glaze Marry a Millionaire

Marry a Millionaire is made up of... well a little bit of everything. It would be easier to tell you what isn't in this one. It is a bit hard to tell, but I see small purple glitter (maybe some pink too) and a ton of holographic/multi-tonal linear/hairy glitter. It is hard to see the linear glitter in the photos because it is so reflective, but trust me there is a ton of it. I thought that this polish might be hardest to apply because of the linear glitter, but it was just the thinner formulation that made it tricky. This is two coats, but I think a third would have given it a more opaque finish.

Some Like it Haute is made up of small charcoal glitter with larger hexagonal silver and holographic pieces. Like Lorelei's Tiara this was thinner and super easy to apply. I love the fact that the holographic glitters really shine through and the fact that it is a deeper take on silver. Gray is one of my favourite colours, so I do quite like this one.

These polishes are a fun addition to my polish stash, even if I don't wear them all that often. What did you think of this collection? Which shades will you be picking up?

  1. Fun polishes for sure. I like glitters, they definitely aren't for everyday, but these are less crazy than say the OPI muppets collection. I am picking up some of the Let it Snow colours, those are really nice too.
