Updated | Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter

02/03/2014 Update- Since this is one of the most popular posts, and my photography skills have greatly improved I thought it only made sense to redo the photos and update this post with shades I've added to my collection since the original post went up.

Finally avilable in Canada! Sort of... I've searched every time I've been in a store that might have event he slightest chance of having these with no luck. I've peeked on Well.ca everyday and up until a few days ago, no luck. I was super pumped when I saw these that I totally went a little crazy and scooped up eight of them. Even with eight I did miss out on one shade that I had wanted- Gum Drop, a light lavender colour. Hopefully I'll spot it in store. Update- I did!

'Buttery balm with beautiful shiny color to give you baby soft, healthy glowing lips 94% of women felt lips were softer, smoother, and instantly hydrated. Formulated with hydrating mango, shea and coconut butter the formula boosts lip moisture by 156%. Pampering gel formula provides super charged hydration and glides on lips buttery smooth.Gives you sheer to medium color with buttery shine.' - Revlon
I usually don't haul one item in such large an amount, but I've got to say, it is fun to line these up; all colourful and shiny. The tubes are similar to the Colourburst Lipstick tubes, in the fact that they have quilting on the cap (still only two out of four sides) but instead of the only slightly useful coloured plastic on the top, the butters have a clear window, allowing you to see the actual colour of the product. As you can see, these are also slanted tubes instead of your typical lipstick bullet shape.

Some of the shades apply quite pigmented and more like a lipstick than a tinted balm. Some also have light shimmer. If you look closely on the non-quilted side of the caps you can tell which have shimmer as their caps also have a hint of shimmer, while the cream shades don't. In my formative years, I used a lot of Bonne Bell Lip Smackers, so I'd be lying if I said I didn't kind of wish these smelled like their namesake (they don't.) In fact they don't smell like anything, not even the typical plastic-y unscented scent.

The shades pretty much speak for themselves, but Raspberry Pie, Lollipop and Tutii Fruitti are super pigmented and more like super moist lipstick than the others. All the shades I swatched (even the ones I didn't think were "me") not only looked great, but they felt great: smooth and moisturizing but some of the lighter, whitened shades aren't as smooth on lips. They catch on imperfections (they even manage to find ones you didn't know where there) which don't look so great up close, luckily, it's not something that is obvious in person. Out of the bunch my favourites are Strawberry Shortcake, Peach Parfait, Sugar Plum, and Juicy Papaya.

Overall, I really like these. Have you tried them? Which shades do you like?

  1. I was just going to come here and post to tell you to get them off well.ca! I hope you used a $10 off $40 coupon, I just placed an order for three more (I had 7 to begin with) and two loreal endless colour eyeshadows.

And so you know, rexall pharma plus has all their lip products for bogo starting today (Friday) for the week. Mine didn't have the lip butters in, but it would be shame and I would be surprised if they didn't have them in time for this sale! If you need a few more, I tried to stay around the $40 mark on my well.ca order so I only got a few and still want creamsicle and gumdrop :)

  2. I think we don't have them yet in the UK, which is a shame as I like the look of that Peach Parfait!

  9. I bought 8 of them as well!! Except i love Candy Apple and Cherry Tart for a sheer (not overwhelming ) but lovely healthy red color! ;D

    Some other notes:
These have little to NO scent! Great in my opinion because i hate the strong taste of lipstick sometimes.

I called about 10-12 different drugstores in my area to find these. Call the CVS and Rite Aids nearby to see if they carry them! Some do and some don't.

I almost bought Peach Parfait, guess I'll have to run back and buy it. Not as interested in the nude colors though.
Tutti Fruitti is also a great color! Fun pinkish orange ;)

  12. i got strawberry shortcake, cotton candy, sweet tart. i can't stand them! strawberry shortcake makes me look like a mutant, cuz i'm super pale and light and baby pinks do more damage than good to my appearance. cotton candy again is too pale for my liking and i can't stand sweet tart cuz it's too bright. any recomendations because i love nude lips. but i just felt letdown with these -________-

    1. Creme Brule is a nude, and cremsicle leans a bit nude as well. It depends on how pigmented your lips are, that will effect the way they look on you as well. Hope that helps a bit :D

  13. Great new post! I also hate when I look back and see old posts and I cringe haha. I've been thinking of redoing some posts, but didn't know how to do it. Now seeing yours, I know the format of how to update different posts of mine!
