Top 11 of 2011

Another year over, another year end wrap up. Last year I spent an absurd amount of time selecting my favourite products in every category, but this year, I've decided to take the easier route. I picked 11 of my most beloved products. I think choosing only 11 products was almost as time consuming as doing a thorough selection, since I had to really, intensely love something for it to stay in the running.
You may notice the lack of nail polish in this post, I've decided they deserve their own post; Coming soon.

Sigma Flat Top Synthetic Kabuki- F80
I hesitated to get this brush (link); I thought that I was perfectly happy with the Duo Fibre-F50 for my foundation application needs. I was so wrong. This brush buffs foundation into the most flawless, airbrushed perfection with the minimalist amount of effort.

Skin 79 Diamond Prestige BB Cream
Full review here. Love.

Avene Thermal Spring Water
I have a fairly large collection of facial mists, but this one is one of my top favourites. I use it before my foundation, spritzed onto my foundation brush, to foil eyeshadow and for a moisture boost after skin treatments. Other top contenders: JuJu Peach Whitening Mist and  MAC Fix+

MAC Rubenesque Paint Pot
2011 started my love of paint pots, and Rubenesque quickly became a favourite of mine on lazy days. This peachy shimmer looks rather unassuming in the pan, but it brightens eyes like magic. I love being able to throw this on with little else and still look put together and fresh. Second place tie: Nubile and Painterly Paint Pots

Laura Mercier Rose Rondezvous Face Illuminator
Full review here. Before this product entered my life I was not one to use highlighter. I now know the error of my ways and have come to love the glow and perk that it gives a finished face.

Milani Baked Powder Blush in Luminoso
Full review here. Before I developed my love of highlighters, I developed a love of blushes that had the glowy goodness of a highlighter built in. Milani's Luminoso is a fave of many a blogger for good reason; it's finely milled,  peachy shimmer is gorgeous. Other top contenders: Smashbox Soft Lights in Tint and Lancome Blush Subtil in Miel Glace.

Urban Decay Primer Potion Eden
After toying around with different brands, I settled on Urban Decay to provide my primer needs and haven't looked back since. Eden is a matte yellow version of the original primer, that conceals while it primes. Perfection.

MAC Sheen Supreme Lipstick in Bare Again
Full review here. I love the formula of these! All the colour of a lipstick, but with the shine of a lip gloss and none of the stickiness. Bare Again is a perfect nude shade that goes with any look. Other top contenders: Cover Girl Nature Luxe Gloss Balm in Hibiscus and No.17 Mirror Shine in Bee Hive

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Light Medium
I've always flip flopped when it came to powders. I never found one that I really loved. Until MSFN. I will stick with this powder as long as they make it. Well, I thought that until I tried Studio Careblend... now I'm not sure which I like more. Tied: MAC Studio Careblend Pressed in Light Plus

Sheet Masks
I know, I was a little vague there, but I have tried a bunch of brands and quite like them all. They are just such a novel way of treating your skin to something special.

Bavipaht Black Sugar and Honey Scrub
Partial review here. This is such a great scrub: it smells divine (I've seriously considered trying it on toast), it scrubs away dull, dead skin perfectly (not too rough, not too soft) and it isn't drying. It leaves my face soft and radiant. Love it.

There you have it. What products did you love last year?

  4. I haven't tried any of these! Though I have the Original version of UDPP and other colours in the Milani Baked Blush line. I need to try Luminoso and Rubenesque eventually. :)

  5. Thanks!
I'm usually terrible at predicting what will sell out, but I had a feeling this one would. Very happy I snagged one.

A bit over-dramatic, but it is so pretty!

I totally agree on the highlighter, I'm guilty of pulling it out just to stare at it :S
