Swatched: Sally Hansen Gem Crush in 'Big Money'

Glitter is a girl's worst enemy. Glitter nail polish. It's a bitch and a half to remove, but it is so tempting, and so... glittery. The most recent glitter to pass my path is from Sally Hansen's Gem Crush collection: Big Money.

Big Money is made up of tiny soft gold glitter suspended in a clear base and has small round lilac glitter sprinkled in for a bit of contrast. Normally, I'm not one for golds, but this is a very soft, delicate gold and the lilac pieces give the gold a nice little pop. The formula of this was pretty perfect for a glitter polish. It is thin enough to apply easily and actually brush it on (as opposed to stipple on.) I used 2-3 coats to get full opacity, which isn't too bad for a clear based glitter. There is a bit of texture once this is on, so you're going to want to use a thick topcoat and layer up as I found the polish kind of sucked it up. I ended up using three coats of Seche.

The Gem Crush collection is made up of a total of eight glitters, but most are dupes of China Glaze Eye Candy polishes. The only shade that caught my eye was Big Money. Did you pick up any of these polishes? What did you think of them?

  2. Try a polish remover tub with a built-in brush for removing fake nails. The *best* for removing glitter polish.
