Review: CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lipstick- Heavenly and Divine

The CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lipsticks were quite popular in blog-land when they were first introduced, but somehow, I never partook in the fanfare. A few weeks ago I spotted these on sale and couldn't help but pick up two shades that caught my eye: Heavenly and Divine.

"Enriched with Silk Moisturizing Complex, our formula helps sustain levels of moisture and helps create soft, smoother, beautiful lips in just 7 days.*" (*vs. bare lips) -CoverGirl

Lets get right to it, shall we? Will these replace your lip balm? No. Do they feel creamy and moisturizing on? Indeed! The formula of these is quite nice; it's smooth and applies in the easiest of swipe. No tugging, no dry/waxy feel, just perfectly a dreamy lipstick texture. These are what all lipsticks should dream of being. They're that nice. They look pretty hot too, in their sleek, purple hued, metal tubes with viewing windows on the bottom. I'd say that these are CoverGirl's most modern looking packaging. I like! They look much pricier than their $8- $11 price.

Heavenly is a  medium, neutral toned pink cream. The finish on this has some sheen and the coverage is the perfect opacity. Opaque enough to really give you a pop of colour, but still comfortable to wear. This is a really pretty type of MLBB (my lips but better) colour that could be universally flattering, at least I think it could be. This does stain my lips, a slightly brighter pink than the lipstick. I actually like the stain, because my lips are normally on the paler side. When lipstick completely wears away, I can look a bit...undone, but this leaves a nice pop of colour behind. A bit of gloss and you're all polished, once again.

Divine is an interesting purpley-fuscia shade. It has a cream finish and some shine. I've read that this shade is a dupe of MAC's Up the Amp, but I don't have it to compare them. I was a touch intimidated by this colour, but I can pull off purples quite well, so I braved up and tried it. It's fab! This shade also satins, leaving behind a brighter pink toned stain. I was a bit shocked when I glanced at myself in the mirror and saw how bright the stain was. I normally wouldn't go for such a shade, but I did get a ton of compliments, so I guess it suited me.

Although the shades I picked up are both cream finishes, there are a fair number of shimmers in the collection. If you are thinking of picking a few of these up, I suggest looking them up online first, so you can get a good idea of which shades are right for you.

Overall, these are really fantastic lipsticks! I now have a list in my purse notebook with other shades that I'll adopt should the time come that they need to be rescued from the treacherous drugstore... Have you tried these? What did you think? Which shade(s) do you love?
