Review: Nuxe Reve de Miel Ultra Nourishing Lip Balm

I've been going steady with Blistex Lip Medix since I was in seventh grade (which, was almost.... well let's just say it was a long time ago.) It really is an amazing product: inexpensive, portable, and most importantly, worked like magic. It was my go to, and I've been known to have a pot, yes, always the pot version, stashed everywhere. I tried the stick once and it just wasn't the same.

So, before this turns into a full on Lip Medex rave, let's get to the main subject: Nuxe Reve de Miel Ultra Nourishing Lip Balm.

If you read many blogs, there is a chance you read a few reviews of this by now. Everyone loves this stuff. I initially wasn't sold. I'm not super familiar by the brand, I had a hand cream a few years ago but I don't remeber being wowed by it. Anyway, a lot of reviewers noted that they were lovers of Lip Medix, but that this was just as good. What? I wasn't entirely sold, but my interest? Totally piqued.

A few days ago, while wandering around our new Shopper's Drugmart in a happy-coma (it's HUGE!) I happened to see this little gem glowing with a small, but still impressive range of Nuxe goodies. And yes, it was literally glowing. The new shelving in the luxury brands section is back lit. So upscale!

They so nicely don't have prices posted, but I didn't care. Into the cart it went. It turned out to be $18 CAD. Not too bad, but much more than my beloved LM. I've been using it steady since, and... the verdict?

Oh. My. God. Holy Grail for sure! From the heavy, frosted-glass pot, which makes application feel more 'expensive' to the honey/citrusy scent it's pure awesomeness. The texture of this is a bit different, it's almost gritty when you first apply it, but it smooths out quickly. It also doesn't add any shine, making it perfect for any boys in your life who want to balm up but don't want 'girl shine lips' (a direct quote from a friend.) The matte finish also makes this a most excellent pre-lipstick balm. It makes lipstick last for hours without being dry. On it's own, it's also a lot longer lasting than LM, also a plus.

I can't say enough about this balm. Yes, it is pricier, but you get more than a pot of Lip Medex, and you need so little it is going to last for ages. If you can swing it, you definatly need to treat yourself (and your lips!) to this balm.

  4. This is my HG lip balm.. I also did a review on it a while back.. The best thing about it is that it has a matte finish.. And for matte lipstick lover, it's awesome!
