mark. Glimmer Shine Lip Gloss

To coincide with the release of the Jewel Shine fragrance (review here) mark. also released a Jewel Shine makeup collection. Over the next few days I'll be reviewing some of the other items, but today we have the gloss, Glimmer Shine gloss to be exact!

Let's get to the goods, shall we?

mark. Glimmer Shine Lip Gloss in Pink Glimmer, Nude Glimmer, and Berry Glimmer* 3.8 g $12

'Get sumptuous lips with jewel shine, thanks to this luxury lip gloss available in three limited edition shades.' - mark.

Get a looky at these! I have to say that as someone who has always been a white metal type, I have seriously come to love rose gold. The rose gold theme from the fragrance continues on to the lip gloss. These plastic tubes are weighty for their size and have classy rose gold caps. The tube and cap have a really quality feel to them, making them a bit of a fancier affair than your average old gloss. It's just a little touch, but nice to see on a relatively budget friendly brand.

Getting past the tube, the gloss formula is also top notch. Having never used a hard tube housed mark. gloss ( I have used their squeezy tube glosses) I didn't really know what to expect formula wise. I can say that this is a great gloss. All three shades have light feeling formulas that are only minimally tacky. For glosses as shiny and wet looking as they are, the formula is outstanding. They just look like they're going to be sticky. As I said, this formula is light feeling, but it's also light in texture, which goes hand in hand with the whole minimal tackiness. The formula wears well without being drying, I'd almost say that it actually hydrates lips... whatever, my lips felt great when this wore away, so I have no complaints. This gloss does have a scent, but I can't quite make up my mind as to what I think it is. It's got a hint of coca yet at the same time almost a honeyed sweetness. Whatever it is, it isn't cloying, does not have a taste, and wears away after a few minutes.

mark. Glimmer Shine Lip Gloss in Pink Glimmer*

Pink Glimmer is a milky, baby pink shade with bit of dustiness. I like how this is that little bit different than your typical baby pink. This is the lone gloss in this collection that contains glitter/shimmer. Based on the fact that these have Glimmer in the name I would have expected more. Not a complaint from me though, as I tend to prefer glosses with less glitz anyhow. The shimmer is barley visible on the lip, but is there. The milky nature of this gloss gives it a tendency to settle into lip lines, but I have to say it really isn't noticeable in person, unlike in the macro photo above. I did learn, by happy accident, that if you apply lip balm before a milky gloss, it stops the bulk of it from settling, since the balm settles into lip lines first and blocks the gloss from getting trapped there.

mark. Glimmer Shine Lip Gloss in Nude Glimmer*

Nude Glimmer is an interesting take on nude, as it's not a flesh toned nude, but an almost clear shade, with just the sheerest touch of peach. When on my lips, which aren't overly pigmented, it enhances the natural colour and ads a healthy dose of shine (obviously.) While this shade does not pack a lot of pigment, the comfortable formula makes it excellent for pairing with lipstick.

mark. Glimmer Shine Lip Gloss in Berry Glimmer*

Berry Glimmer is a raspberry toned berry shade. This shade is the most pigmented out of the bunch. I love that this berry shade has a bit of brightness to it and is so squishy looking. Yes, squishy. This is a great shade to throw on when you want a fresh, feminine look without much effort or hassle. Tons of shine and the same great formula.

Overall, these are great glosses! I know I'll be reaching for them quite often- Pink Glimmer is already in constant use. Will you be trying these glosses? What is your fave gloss at the moment?
