Drugstore Haul!

You know what I was just pondering? Of course you don't, but I'm going to tell you. There have been many a great song written about pawn shops (this is my favourite) and now there is even an ode to the thrift shop, but no one has written a great song about one of my favourite places to shop: the drugstore. You know? Someone should get on that.

Today I spent a few minutes in the heaven on earth that is Shopper's Drugmart (Canada's CVS or Walgreen's) and managed to find a few goodies worthy of the ride home with me. I should note, I stupidly took every photo without my flash on, and they all ended up a bit too dark, and not quite as sharp as I would have liked, so you get the vintage effect (Pixlr's Aladdin filter.)

In a (totally futile) attempt to curb non-essential spending I did take a list, one of the only things on that list (besides a few essentials like deodorant, Tylenol and cotton rounds) was Marc Anthony 2nd Day Clear Dry Shampoo. It is the only dry shampoo I've ever used that leaves absolutely no powdery residue, and it just works. Love it!

I recently finished my Aussie Three Minute Miracle, which is not available in Canada- seriously, I have no idea why, we have every other Aussie product except it. So I was on the hunt for a new conditioning treatment. I saw the Macadamia Oil Deep Repair Masque but wasn't keen on shelling out almost $35 for it, so I opted to try the new L'Oreal Power Moisture Rush Masque. It smells mega nice! Hopefully it works well.

A total impulse buy: Gosh Pump up the Volume Hair Powder. I know I have the Got 2 B volume powder kicking around somewhere, but I thought I'd give this a try anyway. A little extra volume is never a bad thing.

I spent a few moments himming and hawing over a new micellar water, a Canadian brand that I can't seem to remember... it started it with an 'r', but I just couldn't cheat on my beloved Bioderma. I did pick up a bottle of the new Annabelle Eye Makeup Remover formulated with aloe and cucumber. We'll see how well it fares.

When it comes to cotton rounds (which I also picked up) I usually just opt for your average rounds, but I was feeling a bit luxe, so I picked up a bag of the larger Quo Luxury Oval Cotton Pads. Lately I've been using facial cotton, they're okay, but the squares I've got are so small that they're a bit awkward to use.

It's not likely that I'll run out of powder any time soon, but I did recently hit pan on my HG powder (review) but it's too damn pricey to buy all the time. I've read a few favourable reviews of the new Revlon Nearly Naked Pressed Powder so I thought I'd give it a try.

Strolling down the... well, I'm not quite sure what aisle it was, but the one with hand soap and I spotted the curtest soap ever: Method Minnie Mouse Foaming Hand Wash in Strawberry Fizz. Micky was also available in lemon, but Minnie's bow was just too cute.

I've had my eye on Tony Moly's Luminous Pure Aqua CC cream, but I opted to give Canada's first CC creams a try first. Annabelle Colour Control Cream is available in two 'shades'; natural and luminous. I clearly couldn't decide, so I picked up both. Review soon.

I have a hard time passing up any type of highlighter, so when I passed the Rimmel Wake Me Up display their Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch in Peach Glow ended up in my cart. It just hopped right in there. I noticed three shades, peach, sand, and rose. Extra bonus was that it rang through two dollars cheaper than the price on the display. Woot for small victories!

Since no trip to the drugstore is truly ever complete without a nail polish, I picked up Revlon Girly. I was tempted to spy the Essie display, but I just ordered a bunch on sale from Nail Polish Canada and honestly couldn't remember which shades I'd already picked.

Lastly, two bonus items. Neither from the drugstore, but both found me today. I had to stop into Staples for a new router, so I headed to the pen aisle for a package of Sharpie Pens (I love me some Sharpie Pens) but I came across a rainbow pack of Paper Mate Flair Felt Tip Pens. I'm such a sucker for anything rainbow-ish and based on the description these seemed quite similar to the Sharpie version. I've already tried them, and I do approve, but I still love my Sharpies.

The vase, a gorgeous, grey, hobnailed beauty I spied on clearance from Well.ca arrived today. I'm not sure if I'm going to use it for pens and desk things, or if my eye brushes will end up in it.

And there you have it, my haul of the day. Have you picked up anything fun lately?
