Rimmel Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch- Peach Glow

Considering how long it took me to jump on the highlighter train, I now have quite the weakness for them. Given that, I couldn't help but pick up this little tube - of what I thought was highlighter- when passing by a Rimmel display.

The Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch is an interesting, yet slightly confusing product...

Rimmel Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch- Peach Glow 14ml $6.99 (CAD)

It's very pretty when you swatch it- just look at that pinky-peach shade! It has a really soft, smooth, whippy texture that is light feeling on. All great things, but, you knew there had to be a but didn't you? I just don't love the shimmer. I knew this was going to have a shimmer/sheen, it's right there in the name, but I was expecting a more glowy smooth shimmer than the particle style glitter this contains. It's not large enough to be glitter, it is refined in terms of size, but it catches the light so well that it looks more like glitter. While I'm still a twenty-something, I just think I'm too damn old to sport this type of glitter on my face.

The soft shade is indeed gorgeous, but I've found once you blend it on you don't get a whole lot of pigmentation- and this is coming from someone with light skin- the colour just sort of blends away.To use as a highlight... The glitter catches light, but the overall effect doesn't 'glow' how I expect a highlighter to perform.

If it wasn't for the boldness of the shimmer, I'm sure I could make this work with a powder blush or even mixed into a foundation, but as it is, it just isn't right for me. Have you tried this? Thoughts?
