Ban Animal Testing in Canada with The Body Shop

I think it's safe to say that every beauty lover has had questions at one time or another about what exactly is in their products. Sure, the ingredients are usually listed on products, but what did it take for those ingredients to go from being raw materials to being safe for use in cosmetics. What forms of testing were used and did they include animals?

I'll admit, that I definitely don't know all the ins and outs when it comes to which ingredients are known to be tested on animals and which aren't. It's not exactly easy information to figure out, especially when, in Canada, it is still legal to test cosmetic products and ingredients although there are safe alternative testing methods.

You may know that the European Union recently banned all animal testing for cosmetic purposes and The Body Shop wants Canada to follow suit. To help the initiate to stop Animal Testing in Canada stop by any Body Shop location or sign the online petition here. In the past month, 35 000 signatures have already been collected across Canada (go, Canada!) The petition is international, so sign away regardless of where you call home.

Every signature counts, so add yours to the list too! I have!

The Foundation's focus is to assist those working to achieve progress in the areas of human and civil rights, environmental and animal protection.

The Body Shop is part of the L'OrĂ©al family.

Through its Community Fair Trade programme, independently verified by ‘Institute for Marketecology’, The Body Shop worked with 25 suppliers in 21 countries across four continents in 2011. It sources the highest quality ingredients and accessories from local producers and artisans and the programme benefits approximately 300,000 people in extended families and the local communities in which they live.
