bareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow 4.0- The Happy Place

I love eyeshadow. I really do, but I've been really good and not buying all that much. Well, I had been really good. When I made my last Sephora order (here) I had a hankering for a new palette so I decided to go for it. The problem came when trying to decide which one would be mine.

It was a toughie, but I ended up set on a bareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow 4.0 and in the end The Happy Place won me over. It's neutral with a twist shades called to me. Want to see more? Read on!

Have you ever bought and tried something, and then couldn't figure out why you hadn't bought it sooner? That was how I felt when I first used this palette. Well, that and how soon could I get a few more- I have my eye on a few more of the 4.0 quads and a bunch of the 2.0 duos- without totally killing my wallet. These shadows are just that nice. They're smoother than smooth- did you know that's possible? because it totally is- and incredibly pigmented.

The shadows are housed in a cute little compact, that is quite sleek, but is that annoying rubberized material (think NARS packaging) that feels neat in hand, but attracts lint, dust, makeup, and you name it so easily that it doesn't stay fresh looking very long. While I usually don't keep packaging, I may just keep this in it's box, as the geniuses at bareMinerals designed the box so well- the shade name is clearly printed on the top along with a shadow diagram, meaning, with just a glance you can see the palette name and what the shades are. Too perfect! Someday when I own the whole collection- which may just happen, I really love these- that feature will really come in handy.

bareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow 4.0- The Happy Place Peace, Imagine, Exhale and Euphoria

I have to say, I love that  bareMinerals names all of their shadows. It makes everything so much easier!

Peace is described as being a muted apricot. I'd say that is pretty much spot on. The finish is almost matte, but there is the slightest of sheen. This is the lightest shade, but still nicely pigmented and makes for an excellent highlight/blending shade.

Imagine is described as being a rose gold, but it reads more orange toned to me and is more of a peachy- copper with golden sheen. This colour, while not exactly what I was expecting, is all kinds of gorgeous against my brown eyes. Like all the shadows in this palette, it's smooth and incredibly pigmented.

Exhale is described as being a smokey taupe, which isn't all that descriptive, but to me is a purple tinged taupe with a matte finish. This shadow is what all mattes want to be- smooth, pigmented, and not the least bit chalky.

Euphoria is described as being an eggplant. Pretty much spot on, but for some reason I would describe it as a raisin. I think it's the red tones in that don't read as being eggplant to me. Regardless, a really gorgeous shade.

bareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow 4.0- The Happy Place

For the look above, I followed the 'night' diagram in the little leaflet that came with the palette. I used Imagine (peachy-copper) on the lid, Exhale (taupe) in the crease, Euphoria (eggplant) lining the outer corner, and lash line, and Peace (muted apricot) on the brow bone. I added a bit of Urban Decay Sin in on the inner corner for a bit more of a highlight, but other than that, this palette has everything you need to create a really stunning look. I like that it's slightly smoky with the combination of Exhale and Euphoria without being too dark or closing off my deep set eyes.

Overall, I can't say enough about the quality of these shadows. I am so beyond happy with them- they really are my happy place! I love how easily these shades come together and the fact that they're also versatile enough to be used alone or with other shades. Have you tried these palette or any of the others from this bareMinerals? Any recommendations as to which I should pick up next?
