Holika Holika Heartful Moisture Lipstick

Sometimes the cute factor of a product just calls to me. While I usually try to resist it, sometime you just have to take the call, you know? In the case of these uber cute Holika Holika Heartful Moisture Lipsticks, how could I resist- they're heart shaped! A heart motiff and claims of being a moisturizing lipstick? How could I go wrong!

Holika Holika Heartful Moisture Lipstick- Sweet Coral and Pink Love

These little- and yes, I mean little, I was a bit surprised by how cute and small these are- lipsticks are housed in reflective metal tubes that look kind of retro to me. When you pop off the pink caps and twist the product up you're greeted to the heart shaped bullet. Awww, it's a heart!

Holika Holika Heartful Moisture Lipstick- Pink Love

Remember how I said these were uber cute? Well, remember that, because that's where my love for this starts and pretty much ends. I tried Sweet Coral first, and *audible sigh* was quite disappointed. My lips seemed like they were in great condition, but when I swiped Sweet Coral on, my lips looked attrociously chapped, and nowhere near pretty. Okay, there is always a plan B, so I wiped it off, gave my lips a good scrub and tried it again, and again and a few times after that. If it wasn't my lips it had to be the product. How could it look so bad when it swatched so beautifully on my arm?  Pink Love fared quite a bit better on, but still managed to make lips look less then great.

It boils down to the fact that you really can't just swipe these on on they're own. You'll want to give your lips a scrub, and at the very least a good balm before applying these. The moisture aspect is pretty much nil. I did manage to get Sweet Coral to look pretty good, but it was more work than I expected to invest in a product that makes moisturizing claims. Overall, these are heart shaped disappointment. Have you had any product let downs lately?
