Dr. Jart+ Premium BB Cream

I think most of us change out our heavier, fuller coverage foundations in exchange for something a little lighter during the warmer months. It's just not that cute to have foundation melting off of your face.

I've already started to abandon foundations and have been giving my BB cream collection it's time in the limelight. One that I've been using quite a bit lately is Dr. Jart+ Premium BB Cream. It's one of the first that was available in North America- from Sephora, specifically... crazy to think that not all that long ago there weren't many options.

Anyhow, I've had this quite a while and never blogged it.... So, let's get to it!

'A moisturizer, sunscreen, and treatment serum, this all-in-one product also includes advanced brightening properties. Ideal under makeup, its natural looking coverage minimizes the appearance of imperfections and evens the skintone. Antioxidant bio-peptides and adenosine protect skin from harsh environmental factors while restoring firmness and elasticity. This lightweight formula features mineral sunscreens to provide broad spectrum sun protection from both UVA and UVB rays. Skin is left looking smooth, perfect, and natural.'  - Dr. Jart+

While this BB cream is available in North America, it's not a North American made product. Like the 'traditional' BB creams, this is a Korean made product. I like that. It's not that no North American brands have been able to make decent BBs it's just that a lot have failed in their attempts. I'm sure anyone with an interest in BBs has tried a dud or three.

I'm not sure where to start, so let's just jump into this, yes? This is one seriously creamy BB. The nature of all BBs is that they include skincare properties, but this one feels more creamy when applying and feels more moisturizing when initially applied than others I've used. This is a great option for those with drier skin types, as the creamier texture does apply nicely over dry patches with ease. I tend to moisturize before I apply anything to my face- even BBs as I have dry skin- but I don't mind if I skip it with this.

The texture of this is creamy but light. It applies as easily as moisturizer, but gives a perfected, but natural finish on skin. I like that this isn't too matte or dewy, but natural. It's your skin, but so much better. The coverage is decent- I'd say it's more than light, but not quite medium. Does that make any sense? I love the amount of coverage this gives. It evens skin tone, blurs imperfections, but doesn't make you look too perfect or that your skin is one dimensional.

Like traditional BB creams this only available in one shade. The of this does have that slightly dull looking grey tinge, but it applies to be a shade that will suit those in the light to light medium category. I'm normally the second lightest shade (or NW20) and find that this is a perfect match for me. It would be nice if deeper shades were made available. This is such a great formula and everyone should be able to enjoy it. I'd say that is one downside to the more traditional bbs- not enough variation in shades.

Overall, this is a really great BB cream. If you've tried other formulas (mainly wimpy drugstore versions) and were disappointed, this is definitely one that can restore your faith. It's an excellent lightweight option for summer- hello, SPF 45 is pretty awesome- and the formula can't be beat. Have you tried this BB cream? Do you have a go to base for summer? Do share!
