Nicole by OPI Gumdrops- I Lilac Gumdrops and My Cherry Amour

Yesterday I had the worst grocery shopping expedition ever... well, maybe not ever, but it was not fun. Screaming children, smashed blueberries everywhere and a by the time I left the store it had gotten crazy hot. Blegh. The upside of my day was a box upon my doorstep when I got home. A box of nail polish! That's the easiest way to turn a crap day around, if you ask me.

What did the box contain you ask? No, you didn't ask, because you clearly already know, but I'm going to tell you anyway- Nicole by OPI Gumdrops in I Lilac Gumdrops and My Cherry Amour. Read on for swatches and a little comparison.

'Nicole by OPI launches Gumdrops – six new limited edition matte texture shades designed to give nails a mouthwatering manicure. With a “sugar-like” finish that lightly shimmers with fine glitter particles, Gumdrops features brilliant candy colored hues.' -  Nicole by OPI

The texture trend continues with these, and I have to say I am quite fond of the glittering, sugar like polishes. Until now I've only tried the Zoya Pixie Dust versions, but OPI did kind of start the whole thing with their Wet Sand polishes.

The formula of these was pretty good, two thicker coats for full opacity, and thanks to the matte finish these also dry pretty quickly. These do have a bit of a gritty texture once dry, but nothing very rough. Obviously, you can skip the top coat to keep the sugary matte finish.

I Lilac Gumdrops is a lavender shade with silver micro glitter and larger silver glitter in the mix as well. This was three thin coats. Two looked fine, but I thought I could see a hair of nail line, so you know, an extra coat never hurts.

Nicole by OPI Gumdrops- I Lilac Gumdrops vs. Zoya Pixie Dust- Stevie

In the bottle I thought Nicole by OPI 'I Love Gumdrops' looked really similar to Zoya Pixie Dust Stevie (swatches/review soon.) As you can see, they're not all that similar at all. ILG is much more blue toned, compared to the brighter, cooler tone of Stevie. Stevie also lacks the larger silver pieces and has a finer texture once dry.

Nicole by OPI Gumdrops- My Cherry Amour*

My Cherry Amour is a berry toned red with holographic shimmer. In the bottle it doesn't look all that interesting, but once it dries, it looks pretty amazing on the nail- just like a red gumdrop! This was two coats. Warning, it will totally leave you humming this though.

Overall, I'm really happy with these. If you're a fan of the sugary look then these are worth checking out. These are already available in the US and will be out in July in Canadian Wal-Marts and Shopper's Drug Mart and as of August in Jean Coutu, Loblaws, and London Drug locations. Have you tried these? Are you a fan of textured polishes?
