erase bullying with lush charity pot

When I was in school, I somehow ended up in the 'popular' group. It was a small school so you were either in or out. Looking back, I should have been out. I didn't start school with the rest of the group, so I was the new kid. I didn't wear the same name brand clothes everyone else did. I was quiet and wore glasses. I was the fat girl. None of those traits spell popular but I guess for me they worked. I never experienced bullying, but I now know how fortunate I am that I didn't. I would have made an incredibly easy target.

Easy targets or not, too many kids deal with bullying on a daily basis. With the school year just beginning, now is the perfect time to address such a wide spread issue. Lush has recently announced the newest charity to partner with their Charity Pot Hand and Body Lotion. Read on for more details and what you can do to contribute to the cause.

'Inside every black pot of Charity Pot is a whole lot more than a creamy body lotion to hydrate parched, dry skin. Of course, it’s filled with the finest ingredients, including Fair Trade organic cocoa butter, and made by hand with love. Not to mention the gorgeous fresh, ylang ylang floral fragrance. What makes it so special? Every penny (yes, every single penny) that you pay for a pot, excluding the tax, goes to fund and support grassroots charities all around the world. You end up with softer, floral-scented skin AND you’re doing a world of good with every pot purchased' - Lush

Charity Pot  is a pretty spectacular product that also manages to do spectacular things. The money made from each pot -yes, 100% of the purchase price- goes to a cause. How amazing is that? I've known about Lush Charity Pot for years, it's one of their iconic products, but I never knew they gave the full purchase price to their causes. Since 2007 they've donated $4 million to over 350 grassroots charities across 31 countries. That's amazing! They've recently introduced Charter for Compassion as the charity which will receive the funds collected from the sale of Charity Pot. Charter for Compassion is an an organization committed to promoting compassionate thinking and actions in an effort to erase negativity from our communities using these 4 guiding principles:
  • To cultivate a disposition of loving-kindness and respect in ourselves.
  • To exhibit that in how we approach each human we interact with.
  • To commit to the service of others - in our neighborhood, in our country, even across the world.
  • To adopt an open-mindedness and generative, generous spirit that leads to creativity in solving the world’s challenges.

As mentioned, Charity Pot is a spectacular moisturizer. It has a thin consistency that absorbs quickly with no residue whatsoever. It's really hydrating and has a cocoa butter scent with just a hint of a floral note. Skin feels instantly smooth and soft after applying, and unlike some hand/body products this does work just as well on hands as it does body- meaning you can apply it and go right back to what you were doing without having slick sticky hands.

So, get yourself a Charity Pot and do some good for your skin and the world- they'll both thank you. You've still got a few days (until Sept.13th) to check out the interactive art installation where you can 'erase' hurtful words from windows, spreading a message of compassion and support at your local Lush store.
