the body shop colour crush eyeshadow

There has been an eyeshadow invasion in my little beauty world and I have to say I'm quite excited about it. While I love eyeshadow, I haven't really bought any in quite a while. I do have a hankering for the UD Naked 2 palette, but so far haven't taken the plunge. I tend to be more cautious with eyeshadow purchases because life is too short for sub-par shadows, you know?

I've been playing with the new Body Shop Colour Crush shadows and can report that they are far from sub-par. Read on for swatches!

'Our high-impact Colour Crush™ eyeshadows are made with crushed pigments in Italy, the fashion colour capital of the world. High-quality pigments are coated with a silky blend of Community Fair Trade oils, creating optimal light reflection to bring out all their brilliance and clarity. The super-smooth and silky, luminous colour glides on, melting and fusing seamlessly with skin to reveal a vibrant intensity. Take your eye-look to the next level.

Colour Crush™ does not contain any bug shell extract to colour the product, any shimmer effect is made from mineral mica and the binding agents are made from natural vegetable materials instead of crushed shellfish. Because our love for animals includes bugs, insects and other creepy crawlies.' -The Body Shop

I love The Body Shop for it's skin care items, but until now, had never really experimented with any of their cosmetics. Big mistake. These are some really fantastic eyehsadows! All of the shades I've tried have been smooth, richly pigmented and vibrant. These apply and blend like a dream and wear the whole day with no creasing and only minimal fading when not worn with a primer.

Golden Girl is a buttery yellow shimmer. This shade is just slightly less intense than the others, but I actually prefer that it is. This shade is great for highlighting.

Berry Cheeky is a bold, almost fuchsia pink satin. I was both intrigued and afraid of this shade. It's gorgeous, and when paired with neutrals, looks amazing. I've really been into pink shadows lately and like to combine them with neutral shades. That said this shade might not be the most flattering if you have a lot of red in your skin or eyes.

Grape Expectations is a deep violet with the fine silvery-blue shimmer. A really gorgeous shade and incredible pigmentation.

Coconuts About You is a matte taupey brown. This might just be the best matte formulation I've ever used- it's so smooth and not the least bit chalky. This shade had the best pigmentation of the bunch, which is really amazing, as all the shades performed well.

I wasn't so sure it would work, but I manged to use all four shades in one look and actually liked the end result. I used Golden Girl on the inner corner and as a highlight under the brow, Berry Cheeky on the first quarter of the lid blended into Grape Expecations on the next quarter, and Coconuts About You on the outer corner and into the crease.

Overall, you really can't go wrong with these eyeshadows! At a mere $10 these are a steal for such great quality and a formula that seems to be consistent among shades- something that can be hard to find, even with pricier brands. Even better, they're currently on sale! Have you tried these? Do you have any favourite cosmetic products from The Body Shop?
