digital nails spectraflair holographic topcoat

Who can deny the allure of a little holographic goodness? If you can, we can never be friends. Sorry :(

The shimmering flair of a great holo is just about too gorgeous for words, but being able to turn any of your favourite nail polishes into a holo is doubly awesome, right? That's where Digital Nails Spectraflair Holographic Topcoat comes in to save the day. Read on to see just how awesome it is!

'This is a 15ml bottle of Spectraflair Topcoat. Spectraflair is a high end specialty metal pigment that creates a stunning rainbow effect when viewed in the sun or any bright light. I have suspended just enough of this hard to find pigment in a clear suspension base so when you apply it over any nail polish color, it is transformed into an awesome linear holographic polish.'

Spectraflair is a pretty incredible pigment, and is a common ingredient in many indie holo polishes because of it's stunning linear effect. When I was looking for a holo topcoat I knew I wanted one made with Spectraflair to get the most holo effect possible and this bad boy delivers!

You get the most linear flare when applied over darker shades (like China Glaze Man Hunt above) but it also gives a great effect over medium depth shades. When used over lighter shades, the effect doesn't read as linear unless you're in direct/bright light, but even the scattered look is quite striking. I tend to use two coats of this over polishes to get the best effect.

Blurred

When used over Avon Speed Dry+ Bon Voyage (a medium depth, dusty lilac) the linear effect isn't apparent in all lighting situations, but does look pretty amazing regardless. When blurred you can really see the holo effect shine.

Overall, you really can't go wrong with a little holo, and this topcoat delivers just that. My next use of this is going to be over a really deep green, and I'm sure it's going to be stunning! I should note that I ordered this polish a looong time ago- a year ago at least- but have only just gotten around to using it. Unfortunately, like many indie brands, Digital Nails no longer ships internationally, so if you're outside of the US you're out of luck. As of my knowledge the brand isn't carried by any international (like Harlow & Co.) stockists at this time. Are you a fan of holo polishes? Do you have a favourite holo polish or topcoat? Let me know!
