cnd vinylux weekly top coat

Want to know something? It's something that pains me to admit, but, here goes... Nail polish hates me. It's a sad truth. I've yet to find any combination of base coat, polish, and top coat that lasts on my nails. It doesn't seem to matter how well I prep or what brand products I use; after a day or two polish starts to lift and or chip off of my nails. It's beyond annoying. You can see why I was both excited and skeptic of CNDs new Vinylux products which claim to make polish last seven days or longer. Does it work though? Read on for my results!

'VINYLUX™ is a breakthrough polish system that endures a week of fashion perfection…without a base coat! Exposure to natural light secures the patent-pending technology, creating an enduring, long-lasting polish. While ordinary polishes become brittle and deteriorate over time, VINYLUX dries naturally to a flawless finish and strengthens its resistance to chips over time.'

CND created their Weekly Top Coat as a companion to their Weekly Polish. I initially assumed the top coat was only good for use with that nail polish, but when I started seeing other bloggers mention it worked well on all polishes I knew I had to try it. CND themselves claim that their top coat can in fact be used with other brands of polish but they don't guarantee week long wear and that their system 'yields the ultimate performance'.

The technology behind this top coat is fairly simple in the fact that exposure to natural light strengthens the top coat giving it less opportunity to dry out and chip. Application is as simple as any other top coat and I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly it dried- it's comparable to fast dry top coats. A definite plus.

CND Vinylux Weekly Top Coat over OPI Visions of Love*- Day three of wear

My first time wearing the Vinylux Weekly Top Coat was over OPI Visions of Love*. I've worn this polish before and found that as per my norm, it begins to peel/chip after a day or two. Now, CND states that you should not use a base coat when using their Weekly Polish, but since I wasn't, I used CND Sticky as my base coat. I followed that with two coats of Visions and then a coat of Vinylux. It looked great from the start with a shiny, durable feeling finish. A good start.

By day two I was already a happy camper, as I had had no lifting or chipping. On day three I was pretty pleased to be at the same state with only the teeniest amount of tip wear- like, tilt your head and squint, type teeny.

CND Vinylux Weekly Top Coat over OPI Visions of Love*- Day six of wear

I continued along completely chip free until day five when I noticed a small chip on my left thumb and right pointer finger. While I have a very low tolerance for chips, the fact that this was only chipping and not lifting and flaking off was still a victory in my book. By the end of day six I had accumulated a few more chips, but still all on the minor side (admittedly, there were a few more on my right hand) but still, I am quite pleased with how well this stood up. I imagine that those of you lucky snots who don't have wear issues with normal polish would probably get even longer wear time. Since wearing this over OPI I have also worn it over Essie, Avon, China Glaze and Picture Polish shades and found that it worked just as well on almost every brand. The exception being Picture Polish, which lifted and flaked off after a day and a half.

Overall, I am a huge fan of these! Anything that can stretch out a manicure a few days longer on my polish resistant nails is a must have. Do you have issues with nail polish? What top coat do you love?
