Clarins Instant Light Complexion Illuminating Base | 02 Champagne

Clarins Instant Light Complexion Illuminating Base- 02 Champagne (9)

I'm feeling rather sluggish today... It's my own fault; I stayed up last night watching Roots. I've never seen it- partially because it came out a fair few years before I was born- but am completely hooked. It's really well made, and for something made at least thirty years ago, stands the test of time. Anyhow, I was feeling a bit meh when I dragged myself out of bed. You know the feeling. To perk myself up a little- both literally and figuratively- I reached for a new product that makes me look a bit more awake and with it- Clarins Instant Light Complexion Illuminating Base.

'This base gives you a perfect complexion, all day long! It naturally illuminates and corrects your skin tone, in addition to hydrating and soothing the skin with katafray bark extract.' - Clarins

Clarins Instant Light Complexion Illuminating Base, may have a mouthful of a name, but it does work wonders to give you a naturally wide awake looking glow. While this is available in three shades- Rose to brighten all complexions, Champagne to correct redness, and Peach to restore radiance, I've been using Champagne and find that it does so much more than just reduce redness. While on the topic of redness- I never really struggle with redness, but was surprised at how this does neutralize red/pink tones in my skin. By doing so, my skin tone looks more even and brighter. Can't beat that.

Champagne looks quite yellow when you first pump it out of the tube, but the colour blends into skin leaving no yellow cast. It doesn't really give coverage, but it does perfect skin. Along with reducing redness it evens skin tone and blurs the look of imperfections and makes skin appear brighter and radiant. The name implies some form of shimmer, but there really isn't anything obvious to be found here. There is a faint pearlescent property to the base, but it's very light and just acts to give skin that certain je ne c'est quoi we're all searching for. I particularly like to use this under lighter coverage products, as it works to hydrate, prime and perfect in one easy step and means I can use less of my base product.

Overall, I am quite a fan of this product. If you've been searching for an illuminating product that is low in shimmer but still gives brightening results then this is the product for you. Do you like brightening/perfecting products like this? Tried it?
