The Sitota Collection | Petit Excursion Candle Quartet

Sitota Collection Petit Excursion Candle Quartet (3)

I've never really been able to pin point why, but I love candles. I was about twelve when I got my first candle and was absolutely thrilled that my parents were brave enough to let me burn it in my room.
There is just something so nice about a burning candle, especially a delightfully scented candle; it's just so cozy and comforting. Given that, I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to try the Petit Excursion Candle Quartet from The Sitota Collection. Plus, it's nice to take a little beauty break every now and then.

'At the Sitota Collection, we create sheer opulence by using traditional artisan techniques by delicately hand blending custom fragrances with renewable soy wax. Our scented candles are produced in small batches to maintain superior craftsmanship and to ensure meticulous attention is paid to every detail. We set ourselves apart from our competitors by offering a very limited selection where each luxurious fragrance tells a unique story.'

The Petit Excursion Collection includes four 2.75oz mini candles in four different scents (more on that in a moment.) The candles are housed in simple, matte, black glass cups with a gold S label. For small candles they are quite weighty in hand. I found that these candles burned really well as they burned evenly and not straight down the center. I loose my sh*ahem* when expensive candles candles burn straight down and then die out. No issues with these! They do burn quite quickly though- Sitota claims 18 hour burn time, but I found I got about ten, and that is being generous.

Each of the four scents are inspired by the creators travels and reflect various destinations:

  • Aigyptos- A warm, yet fresh scent with notes of amber, sandalwood, musk and vanilla balanced by jasmine, lavender and orange. The main notes are amber and jasmine with some warmth from the musk and a hint of creamy sweetness from the vanilla. This is the 'safest' sent of the bunch if you're unsure of which scent would suit you.
  • Blue Nile- A fresh, slightly aquatic scent with notes of bamboo, wild grasses, red grapefruit and citrus. I love the blend of slightly earthy bamboo and bright citrus as it gives a really interesting and fresh scent.
  • Coco Noir- A warm, and spicy blend of creamy coconut and cassis. This scent just might be my favourite of the bunch, although it is not what I was expecting. The coconut scent is not overly apparent as such but adds a creamy background to the spicy notes that make up the forefront of the scent.
  • Havana- A masculine scent highlighting tobacco, leather amber and musk with notes of teakwood, pepper and black tea. I ended up really loving this scent, but I do wish more of the tobacco notes were present. When all the notes combine you get a masculine, woody cologne type scent that is really appealing- and I tend be more of a sweet scent lover.

I found the scents to be quite concentrated and had plenty of throw to scent an entire room (and then some.) While I ended up enjoying each of the scents- even ones I didn't expect to- I found some scents are just too strong for small spaces. I'm looking at you, Havana.

Overall, these are lovely little candles and the set would make a really thoughtful gift. Full size version of each sent are also available on the Sitota site. Are you a candle fan? Do any of the scents speak to you?
