Essence Longlasting Lipstick & Glossy Lip Balm

Essence Longlasting Lipstick- Dare to be Nude, Dare to Wear and On the Catwalk! (6)

I think it's safe to say that every beauty fan loves two things- a new tube of lipstick and a cheap thrill. Both are equally excellent things on their own, but what happens if you get a bit crazy and combine the two? Essence did with their Longlasting Lipsticks and Glossy Lip Balm and I have to say, they did it well!

Essence Longlasting Lipstick are housed in simple black tubes adorned only by a colour matched band around the middle. The band corresponds to the shade of the lipstick, btw. Inside that tube, is an 'e' adorned tube of lipstick. I'll admit that I didn't really know what to expect from these, but you really can't judge a lippy by price alone because these are pretty fabulous!

The formula differs a bit from shade to shade, but overall, these are nicely pigmented, creamy, hydrating and wear really well. When I think cheap lipstick I don't think great thoughts, but the formulation of these lipsticks is on par and better than other drugstore lipsticks that sell for ten times the price.

Essence Longlasting Lipstick- Dare to be Nude

Dare to be Nude is a creamy tan-nude shade with a slight rose undertone. The pigmentation is a little more sheer than the other shades I tried, but still builds to be fairly opaque.

Essence Longlasting Lipstick- Dare to Wear

Dare to Wear is a blue based cherry red. It's a classic red shade that suits a ton of skin tones and works well to brighten the look of your teeth.

Essence Longlasting Lipstick- On the Catwalk!

On the Catwalk! is a natural rosey-pink shade. It looks darker in the tube than it applies but is a gorgeous natural shade- my favourite out of the bunch!

Essence Glossy Lip Balm would be the type of product I would stroll right past if I saw it in store, and to be honest wasn't really expecting much from this when I tried it. That said, I was totally wrong. This product looks like a gloss but acts and feels like a balm on lips. It has absolutely no tackiness and feels light on lips while giving lips great shine and hint of colour. The shade Cherry Brownie not only smells super tasty- just like it's namesake- it also gives a sheer red tint. Hydration is light, but enough to say it actually did something. A handy gloss-balm to have stashed in a purse or pocket.

Overall, these are two great products! I was unable to find the exact prices for these, but none of Essences products retail for more than $5 so you're not breaking the bank either way. The Longlasting Lipsticks are available in thirteen shades while the Glossy Lip Balms are available in five dessert themed scents/colours meaning there is something for everyone. So, next time you pass by the Essence display, feel free to let your inner hoarder free- you really can't go wrong! Have you tried either of these? Have any favourite Essence products?
