Dermalogica Clear Start Matte Moisturizer & All Over Toner

I remember being younger, dealing with breakouts, and thinking at least I'll grow out of it... Yeah, you too? While I don't breakout the same way, I do still deal with with the odd blemish and full on breakout from time to time- just like 20-30% of all adults age 20-40. That said, having a few breakout banishing products on hand is pretty much essential. The newest in my arsenal come from Dermalogica Clear Start in the form of their Oil Clearing Matte Moisturizer and Breakout Clearing All Over Toner.

Having dry skin, I've never really had to deal with oiliness, but something has changed, and the past few weeks I've been a bit shinier than normal. It was perfectly timed though, as it gave me a chance to really test the Clear Start Oil Clearing Matte Moisturizer. This very thin, fluid moisturizer is quite the workhorse as it's so much more than just a moisturizer. It's a broad spectrum sunscreen- with SPF 15- an oil absorber, and an acne treatment as well.

Formulated with a blend of natural botanicals- licorice, birch and willow- it works to not only clear skin but also moisturize and sooth while being super light weight. As mentioned, the formula is quite thin, and it absorbs quickly to leave skin super smooth feeling and nicely hydrated. I was quite impressed with how well this kept oiliness at bay throughout the day and wore very well under makeup. For very oily skin, this won't be enough on it's own, but it's definitely a great daily moisturizer for under makeup or alone with a bit of powder.

The Clear Start Breakout Clearing All Over Toner might just be a new favourite for me, as I love the idea of a toner that I can spritz on, but also because this leaves my skin so clean feeling, refreshed and happy. Yup, happy. Formulated with salicylic acid, lavender, camellia sinensis and argan it works to  minimize redness and calm skin aggravated by breakouts while minimizing surface oil that can cause them. The product has a fresh citrus and lemongrass scent and a fine but wide mist- one or two mists easily covers your entire face. It gives skin an instant boost and is particularly refreshing used during the day as it leaves skin feeling clean and revived. This product can also be used anywhere on the body that is prone to breakouts. Can't beat double duty products!

Overall, I'm a fan of these products and will be adding a few more items from the range into my skincare stash, like the Emergency Fix Spot Treatment and Cooling Mask (I can't resist a good mask!) What are your go-to products when you breakout? Tried these? Thoughts?
