Lip Love with Avon, The Body Shop, & Mark

lip love with avon, the body shop and mark

After a quick overview of my 'products to review' pile, I found a menagerie of new lip products. A few shades of this and that with some hits, and unfortunately some misses. Read on for a selection of lip glosses, stains, and lipstick from Avon, The Body Shop and Mark.

While I love the idea of a lip stain, it's not actually something I tend to reach for... no real reason, I just don't. That might change though, as I've come to be quite fond of Avon Extra Lasting Lip Stains. There are currently eight shades available, of that I tired two- Raspberry a ruby red shade, and Exposed a brown, nude. I found that Exposed works best after giving lips a good scrub as it does emphasize imperfections, but Raspberry applied really evenly and is just a gorgeous shade. Lip stains can be drying, but these do include a balm on one end. When used with the balm these wear really comfortably ALL DAY. Seriously, you'll need to use a makeup remover to get them off.

Okay, remember the miss I mentioned above? Avon Lip Lacquer Stains are the miss. Well, half misses. The formula is actually pretty great as it's that balmy feeling gloss that so many products have, and they just feel so nice on lips. The problems come into play when you factor in their name and how they actually wear. There are six shades in this range, and the two I tried- Nectar a shimmery peach, and Juicy Cherry a red- were both quite sheer and didn't leave any kind of stain on my lips during their 2-3 hour wear. They are super glossy though. The other issue is their scent. The scent is a fruity-minty mix that is just... well, it's bad. I didn't find that these had much of a taste, but the scent lingers a little longer that I'd like. All that said, I'm of two minds about these. Good formula, bad scent and a little over priced.

The undeniable hit from this batch o' lippies comes from The Body Shop. The Body Shop Colour Crush Shine Lip Colour in 18 Sunset Romance is simply perfect. If all the shades are as nice, I'mma need me a few more. There are currently ten shades in this range, with a variety of natural pinks, reds, and nudes and a few bolder shades for good measure. The shade I've been wearing, 18 Sunset Romance, is a pinky, coral cream that is quite pretty and super easy to throw on. The formula is sheer, but buildable, and feels light and balmy on lips with the shine of a gloss and a light rose scent. LOVE these!

Mark. Glow Baby Glow Hook Up Lip Gloss aren't new, but there have been some changes to the popular product. First, three new shades- Chica Luxe a shimmery golden peach, Pretty Femme a nude-mauve and Glam Luxe a shimmery pink- and a larger, full size tube. The Hook Up part of the name comes from the fact that you can connect any two Hook Up products from mark. with a little tube that connects onto the top of the tubes. It's a pretty neat system as you can choose from a pretty wide selection of makeup products like gloss, mascara and liner.

The Glow Baby Glow gloss has a burnt caramel type smell that I kind of love, and a super shiny finish that is low on the sticky scale, but still has a bit of tackiness. I wasn't sure about Chica Luxe, as it's very sparkly and glitter in the tube, but there is no grittiness at all and it really shimmers and reflects the light beautifully. If shimmer isn't your thing. Pretty Femme has only the slightest bit (it's almost invisible on lips) but is a pretty nudey-mauve shade. These have a little brush applicator, which works well enough, but does have a tendency to pick up too much product.

Okay, that might just be the longest lip post ever... Overall, some decent products. My must have has to the the Body Shop Colour Crush Shine because they're just so easy to wear, but Mark. Glow Baby Glow Chica Luxe is becoming a favourite too. Tried any of these products? Thoughts?
