Clarins' Fall Collection may be Lady Like in the fact that it's all about natural, feminine hues, but it also proves they're all about that base. With a selection of matte cream to powder shadows and an eye primer, you can't help but have flawless eye looks. Read on for a closer look!

Clarins has had an eye primer/base in their range for a while, but have introduced a new formula with the release of their Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base, which is only slightly confusing, as the new formula has the same name as the old, but is in new packaging. The new formula soothes and illuminates eyes while providing a matte base that works to extend the wear of shadows.

I quite like the shade that the base comes in, as it instantly gives eyes a brighter look while concealing any discolouration and giving skin a perfected look. I found that as a primer, this worked well up to about the six hour point before shadow started to crease a bit through the center. Not the longest holding primer, but I do like that it can be worn on it's own to brighten eyes and makes for a great no makeup makeup look.

Clarins is all about matte for Fall, with six cream to powder shades that are a dream to apply. The texture is super silky, but dry feeling, and apply best with fingers, but still blend out with ease. The shade I've been using is Nude Pink, a pale nude with a touch of a pink undertone. I found this to work quite nicely as a shadow on it's own, but it does begin to crease a bit by hour six. When worn as a base, it lasts pretty much all day without budging.

On me, the shade doesn't give a lot in terms of actual colour, as it's quite close to my skin tone, but it does give a brightened, perfected look. I've been applying a wash of Nude Pink on the lid with a bit of black shadow smudged into the upper lash line with plenty of black mascara for a simple, but fresh and awake look (as shown below.)

Overall, two great staple items to add to any makeup bag. I love that the cream shadows apply and blend so easily, as they're perfect for early mornings when you need to look awake in an instant. What's your go to base/primer? Tired either of these? Thoughts?
