L'Oreal Miss Manga Voluminous Waterproof Mascara

While my mascara drawer just might be busting at the seams, I just had to add one more. You see, I've recently decided to test the waterproof mascara waters, as I find my lashes don't have as much curl as they once did, and waterproof formulas tend to keep curl better. There is little more annoying than curling your lashes to perfection only to have your mascara drag them back down. When I went to pick something out, I couldn't help but be drawn in by the adorable, big-eyed panda on the L'Oreal Miss Manga Voluminous Waterproof Mascara package, plus, I've heard good things. True things though? Read on to find out!

The L'Oreal Miss Manga mascara is designed to give top and bottom lashes 'mega volume' thanks it's conical brush. The tip of the brush is supposed to maximize bottom lashes, while the flexible wand is designed to amplify upper lashes. Since we're already on the brush topic, let's start there. I didn't love the brush when I first used this. The joint on the wand makes brush really flexible, so much so that it made application feel weird. That really is the best way to describe it- weird. It made doing the mascara wiggle move harder, because the brush wiggled so much it was hard to get right to the root of my lashes. While I didn't love it, it is something that you get used to after a few uses- at least I did- and don't find it an issue. I also noticed the brush looked a little... well, bald if I'm being honest. It seems like it's missing a few bristles, especially at the tip. I like the mascara, but it can get a little clumpy if you try to apply it to bottom lashes with the tip of the brush because there just aren't enough bristles to grab anything. It works better to product to the bottom lashes with the side of the brush.

As for the mascara itself, I quite like it. It's plenty black, it gives a good deal of volume and length, which looks much more impressive in person. I just couldn't get a great angle to show how well this actually pops on lashes. It holds a curl impressively well- which in turn really makes eyes look bigger and more awake- and wears just as well with no smudging or flaking. I do find it can get a little clumpy if you try to work it too much, with two coats being the max before you enter clumpy-mess land. I was  pretty pleased that it wasn't a bitch to remove- my main reason for avoiding waterproof formulas. I've used a few different removers, and all have been able to remove this with ease.

Overall, I quite like this mascara! It gives a wide eyed, long lashes look, and most importantly holds that curl like life depends on it. Do you opt for waterproof mascara or regular? Tried this? Thoughts?
