“Traditional blush can read as flat, and so I was inspired to create something that was far more seamless. Ambient Lighting Blush fuses two advanced formulas to create something entirely new. It’s unlike any other product on the market.” - Carisa Janes, Hourglass founder

While the Ambient Lighting Blushes were introduced some time ago, and I decided to wait it out. There was just so much hype, I thought I'd wait and see if a palette might just be in the pipeline, as the Ambient Powders were given such treatment. I didn't want to end up with duplicate shades. So that, is why I'm only now discovering these beauts.

Onto the palette though. The palettes itself is the same has the same styling and feel of the blushes with a full mirror. No space is wasted on an applicator, so it's all business when you open it up. The blushes are only slightly smaller than full size- 4.3g for full size while the palette blushes weigh in at 3.3g- meaning you're getting pretty good value for money when you opt for the palette. Plus, you're getting three shades opposed to one, with one shade being exclusive to the palette.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette - Luminous Flush

Luminous Flush is a what Hourglass calls a 'champagne rose' that incorporates Luminous Light powder with blush. I found this shade to be a much more vivid pink when used than it looks in the pan, but it gives cheeks a really healthy, youthful flush with very slight iridescence.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette- Incandescent Electra

Incandescent Electra is a cool peachy pink shade that blends Incandescent Light powder into the blush. Incandescent Light is exclusive to the Ambient Lighting Palette, as is this shade to the Bush Palette. The shade has been subject to a bit of controversy, as it seems to vary in quality from palette to palette. I have no issues with mine, as it has a pretty even ratio of blush to powder, and has a smooth, refined texture.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette- Mood Exposure

Mood Exposure is a nude-plum shade that combines Mood Light powder into the blush. I wondered how pigmented this would fare, as there is quite a bit of Mood Light compared to blush, but it still gives great does of colour. I expected this shade to be more plum in appearance, but the end shade is actually quite neutral and more nude in tone than plum. That said, I do love a neutral blush and love the natural flush it gives cheeks.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette Swatches

Overall, you really can't go wrong with this palette. The blushes all have a smooth texture that melds onto skin to give a flush of colour and a soft, luminosity. None of the shades are shimmery or too glowy, but instead they give skin a really healthy look without looking like makeup. Are you a fan of the Ambient range? Will you or have you picked this up?
