Sothys Beach & The City Collection | Spring Summer 2015

sothys beach & the city spring summer 2015

I'm currently wearing thick fuzzy socks, a sweater, and drinking the hottest tea physically possible. It's cold; I'm cold. It might officially be spring, but Winter is holding on for dear life. To get in a warmer mindset, to go along with the warmer weather that should arrive (anytime now would be very much appreciated) I suggest a fake it, till you make it approach. One way, is to take a little trip via makeup. The new Sothys Beach & The City Collection for Spring/Summer 2015 transports you to warmer days, where less is more. The collection is based on such motto, with sheer shades than can also be built up for more intensity. Read on for a look at a few gems...

sothys beach & the city spring summer 2015 illuminating trio

Brace yourselves blush lovers... The Illuminating Trio in shade 20 Trio de Roses is a stunner! With three blush shades- a rosey-plum, a fresh, vivid pink, and peach- this blush has a little bit of everything for a fresh Spring face. I was a bit surprised that something named 'illuminating' would be matte, but the shades apply wonderfully on skin and can be layered for customizable intensity. Sothys claims the shades can be used as blush, eyeshadow, and bronzer, but I really can's see these shades working as bronzer as they're just not 'bronze-y' in tone.

The packaging of this also adds some luxe to everyday blush application, with it's refined, weighty, black and clear packaging, full mirror, and velvet pouch. The only downside to this trio, is that it's nearly impossible to just use the middle pink shade on it's own as it;s quite slim. I've been using it mixed with the plum shade, which creates a pinky-plum that gives skin a natural flush.

The Beach & The City Collection includes two new shadows, of which I have Iridescent Eyeshadow in Sable Fin. Sable fin is a soft, shimmering pal champagne shade that applies semi-sheer when used dry, or much more intensely when used wet.The shade applies nicely dry, as it brightens the eye and makes fr a quick look when paired with black liquid liner or a smudge of coloured pencil.

For lips, the effortlessly chick Rouge Doux in Beige Garibaldi, a sheer nude with soft, subtle gold shimmer. The formula has what Sothys calls a 'melting texture' which is soft feeling, hydrating, and with a touch of shine. The shade is designed to be sheer, and does build it up a little bit for a bit more colour, but will never reach full opacity. The soft and light texture isn't the longest lasting, but the formula can be easily swiped on sans-mirror for on the go touch-ups.

Nails weren't forgotten, and are given a vivid hue with Nail Lacquer in Rouge Grenadine, a flash red cream. The shade is designed to be sheer with one coat, and full with the second, but I found this to have excellent pigmentation. I used two coats to cover visible nail line and love how punchy the shade is- this will make an excellent shade for Summer pedicures!

Overall, this is a great collection if you've got the hankering for a little high-end splurge!
