Drugstore Lovin' | Marcelle Edition

Drugstore Lovin' Marcelle Edition copy

If a non-Canadian beauty fan were to take a stroll through the beauty isles of a Canadian drugstore, they might find that there aren't that many Canadian brands to be found. It's a sad truth. While there are many great Canadian brands, not many are represented at the ol' DS. One that is, and has been around since 1933. is Marcelle. The brand, based in Montreal, offers a wide selection of skincare and makeup, all being hypoallergenic, perfume free and never tested on animals. I have quite a few brand favourites- I highly suggest their micellar water- but today we'll be taking a look at Marcelle 8-in-1 Power Serum, Complete Corrector CC Cream, and Quad Bronzer. Read on!

I love a good serum, and Marcelle 8-in-1 Power Serum is just that. The lightweight, gel-like texture is easily absorbed into skin- meaning you can move on to the next step in your routine quickly. The formula includes a multi-peptide complex that works to stimulate three key elements in skin: collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. The serum claims to transform skin in just seven days, with visible results from the first application... That's a bold statement, and not quite true from my experience. However, after using this for a few weeks, I did find my skin to be noticeably smoother, more even looking in tone and texture, and overall, that little bit brighter than before adding this to my routine. I love that this is packaged in an airtight pump as well, which means you're not losing any efficacy due to oxygenation.

I know, the whole alphabet cream craze is overdone, but don't roll your eyes just yet. Marcelle Complete Corrector CC Cream is so much more than a lame impersonation (which we've all experienced from other North American BB and CC products.) With a thick and creamy texture, this CC offers fairly full coverage, SPF 35, and a myriad of skincare benefits. The formula is infused with pure 24K gold to diminish the appearance of dark spots and skin tone imperfections. While I love how much coverage this proves and that it is quite hydrating, the Light-Medium shade is too dark for me (this is also available in Medium-Dark.)

Lastly, a little glowy colour with Marcelle Quad Bronzer. The Quad Bronzer combines four radiant shades of bronze that give skin a warm, sun-kissed wash of colour when combined. That said, the shade can be customized by using the upper shades together for a lighter shade, and the lower two for a deeper glow. The powder has a silky texture that blends onto skin seamlessly and is enriched with aloe-vera. For those that prefer a shimmer free bronzing experience, there is also a matte version available.

Overall, you really can't go wrong with any Marcelle products. I've yet to use any that didn't live up to my expectations.- which says a lot, because I've used my fair share of Marcelle products. Bonus fact: my very first mascara was Marcelle!  Have you tried any of these products? Do you have a favourite Marcelle product?
