Kat Von D Lip Vixen Duo

kat von d lip vixen duo (2)

I love beauty minis. More specifically, minis that are replicas of their full size selves. Don't even get me started on mini perfumes (so cute!) Needless to say, I was pretty excited about the limited edition Kat Von D Lip Vixen Duo as it contains two the brand's best selling products in adorable mini form. Read on for a closer look!

Part one of the duo is Kat Von D Mini Studded Kiss Listick in Noble, a 'matte petal pink nude'. Noble is quite pale, so it's not going to be the best nude option for every skin tone, but the real isue is the formula. This shade is a bit of everything you don't want in a matte lipstick- it's dry feeling from the get  go, it's uneven, patchy, emphasizes every line and flaw, and dries lips out during wear. I haven't tried any other shades from this range, so hopefully it's just this shade that's lacking. On the upside, the studded tube is a replica of the full size version, and is pretty cute, plus the sweet vanilla-ish scent (it's supposed to be crème brûlée) is quite nice.

Part two is where things get better, exponentially so, as the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Outlaw, a 'brick red' is pretty phenomenal. The liquid lipstick is matte, but unlike the Studded Kiss lipstick, stays comfortable on lips for hours and applies with ease. One coat gives full, opaque coverage and beautiful pigment. Outlaw is described as being a brick red, but I find it to lack the brown tones I'd expect from a true brick red is more of a medium depth cherry red. Regardless, the shade is stunning, and should suit just about all. The formula has no scent and wears well for hours, like all day perfection yet doesn't feel drying- it does happen to be infused with vitamins A, C, and E for added hydration

Overall, I'd say pass on the set and opt for a tube of Everlasting Liquid Lipstick. For the added $2 ($20 USD / $24 CAD full size) you can skip the dry mess that is Noble and get more glorious, matte goodness that is the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick. Might as well get more of what you'll actually use, plus the lipstick is pretty tiny for the price. That's my take on the situation. Have you tried either of these lip products? Are you a fan of minis?
