Somewhere, the manager of the universe is slacking. They forgot to flip the switch on summer heat. It should be getting more manageable with the impending autumn (aka the best season of the year) but it is still sweltering here. I don't like sweltering. While it seems like I'm going to have to deal a bit longer, I can at least daydream of crisp fall days with the new additions Clarins has released as part of their Fall 2015 line up. Read on for a look at a few pieces!

Clarins Joli Rouge 747 Rosey Nude

Clarins Joli Rouge 744 Soft Plum (2)

Clarins has re vamped their Joli Rouge formula, complete with shiny new gold packaging. The new packaging still has a weighty feel, but with a slimmer tube and more traditional round shape. As for the Joli Rouge lipstick, it's just as creamy and wonderful as always. The formula is designed to be both moisturizing and long-wearing. With mango seed oil and salicornia extract to moisturize, the lipstick has nice slip and balmy feel. They also have a really great scent (Clarins always does excellent lip scents) which to me, is reminiscent of Swedish Berries. It has a candy sweetness with just a hint of raspberry. The scent is quite soft though, and dissipates once applied.

There are currently twenty-five shades in the range, with everything from nudes to deep, vampy shades in the mix. I was sent 747 Rosey Nude, which is a a pinky-nude with a peachy tone, and 744 Soft Plum, a mavey-plum with a vampy twist but doesn't read too dark (aka the perfect day-time plum.) Each shade super smooth with buildable pigmentation that applies and wears easily. Clarins calls the finish satin, but I find then to have a fair bit of sheen.

I tend to overlook lip liners, but lately I've found myself using them more often. I am loving the Lipliner Pencil formula as it's matte, but really creamy and easy to apply. The formula features Vitamin E for optimum smoothness and an adaptive formula that is supposed to adapt to your skin tone. The lip liners are available in four shades, meant to suit skintones from fair to deep, but I say chose the shade that you like best. I didn't really notice any changes in 03 Nude Rose (chocolate milk brown with rosey undertones.) I do find it wears really nicely on lips without drying them out and adds a nice warmth when worn under the Rosey Nude Joli Rouge.

For eyes, Clarins released two new palettes- a day and night option- along with new shades of their Ombre Matte, and some new liners. The Crayon Kohl in 10 True Violet-is a simple wooden pencil (yes, it needs to be sharpened) that comes with a brush on one end. I've never seen a brush like this on a liner, but it works well with the formula to smoked out a line for a softer effect. The pencil seemed a bit stiff when I swatched it on my hand, but on the eye, it glides easily and creates a beautiful smokey purple line with soft blue shimmer.

You really can't miss with any of these products, but my current favourites are the Rosey Nude Joli Rouge and Nude Rose Lipliner. The Joli Rouge formula is just so hydrating and smooth, it really is a great every day formula. Have you tried any of these products? Do you have any Clarins favourites?
