Monday. I thought I was ready for you, but so far, we're just not getting along so well. I thought I was organized, turns out not so much. Well, at least I do have a pretty great product ready to share with you lovely lot. Up for discussion today is the oh-so-interesting Deciem Hylamide Photography Foundation. It's not your average foundation, like at all. Intrigued? Read on!

"Next-generation "transparent" foundation is designed specifically to make the skin look better for the camera lens while blurring away imperfections in real life."

Take the concept of foundation, box it up, wrap it in brown paper, and put it in the corner. You won't be needing it, because Hylamide Photography Foundation is in a category all of it's own. While foundation, in it's typical sense, covers up your flaws and troubles, this gem of a product blurs and improves without the pigments. Photography Foundation is a clear-ish product with a light watery texture. The 'foundation' applies as the last step in your skincare routine as a stand a lone product, or primer for makeup. The idea is that it works to perfect look of skin via a series of specific technologies:

  • Fractionated Blurring Silica Suspension: silica-based prisms create light confusion for reduced visible lines and pores immediately without looking like traditional makeup, while specifically creating a perfect backdrop to highlight facial features through the camera lens.
  • Prismatic Camera Hue Yellow-Red Correctors: ultra-advanced super-fine hue correctors black out unwanted tones in real life while creating the look of angular shadows for more definition on camera.
  • Prismatic Gold Technology: adds a discreet golden glow instantly for radiant, healthy-looking skin while adding a cinematic look in photographs.
  • Oil-Free Bio-Sugar Complex: Super-light oil-free biotechnology complex is clinically proven to offer comfortable hydration immediately with an effect that lasts 48 hours after each application.

Okay, so if the sciency stuff doesn't get you excited, think of this as a filter for your face. The product is essentially clear, but it does have a soft, white-gold radiance that gives skin a certain je ne sais quoi while blurring the appearance of large pores (can I get a hallelujah?!) and making skin look more even and smooth. The effect in person is subtle, but visible, but really becomes evident in photos. We all know photography can emphasize imperfections that don't show as expediently in person, but are amplified in photos. This truly does soften and blur those common areas.

Overall, I'm a major fan! I really didn't know if a clear foundation could do much, but this is kind of magical. I still use foundation with it, but I like to use something lighter in coverage as to not fully obliterate the effect. Deciem has also released Golden Tan and Bronze versions, should you want a little added glow. Deciem is an incredibly interesting brand for skincare fans, as they have a host of innovative and unique products, that (as they say) are changing everything. Have you tried this or anything similar? Have you tried any products from Deciem?
