When I was trying to think of a catchy or witty name for this concealer twosome, the 'concealer department' was one of the ideas I initially passed on, but it stuck with me. I envisioned a group of concealers meandering about a precinct eating stale donuts and drinking black coffee, discussing the grisly sights they'd been forced to endure. As concealers. I might need to cut back on my late night Law & Order SVU re-runs, but these are two exceptional concealers that I kind of love. Read on for all the deets on Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Concealer + Corrector and Smashbox 24 Hour CC Spot Concealer.

"Maybelline's SuperStay Better Skin Concealer is a 2-in-1 targeted concealer and correcter with Actyl-C, an ingredient known for its antioxidant benefits. The concealer instantly provides all-day flawless correction and visibly reduces the appearance of dark circles, spots and imperfections in just 3 weeks."

Okay, the whole better skin thing, from just your concealer? A bit gimmicky, but the Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Concealer + Corrector does work wonders on dark circles and wear like a champ. I've been using the shade 10 Ivory, which is the lightest shade in the range, and find it to be a perfect match for my under eyes as it covers dark circles and is brightening. The shade is a smidge too light for my face, but I've been using something else in that region (specifics in just a moment.) The concealer has a light, liquid-cream texture that blends well and looks quite natural on skin with pretty good coverage. It's not quite full, but it does work very well to conceal under eye discolouration without looking cakey or mask-like.Application is your basic doe-foot applicator, which works fine to dab it on. I follow up with a brush (or finger) for blending.

I do experience creasing if I don't set it, but I've found the most perfect setting powder in the matte highlight from the Smashbox #Shapematters Palette. the slight yellow tone perks up the under-eye area, and sets this concealer beautifully.

"A treatment and a concealer in one, 24-Hour CC Spot Concealer is contains Photoset Polymers, created with medical-grade liquid bandage technology, which adheres and bends with your skin. The concealer treats and fades spots over time so that you see results in just four weeks. Waterproof, transfer-proof, sweat- and humidity-resistant, this full-coverage formula features a micro-precision applicator for easy, exact application."

For my face, I've been reaching for Smashbox 24 Hour CC Spot Concealer. Now, I normally don't bother too much with concealer on my face. Why? Because I'm okay with my imperfections (for the most part) and because adding concealer to a blemish can make it look a whole lot worse. You've been there. That said, the Smashbox CC concealer is a bit different than your average. The formula is thin feeling, but it covers like a boss. The coverage is insane! While I found the formula can begin to get a bit dry by the end of the day (hour 5-6) it wears really well over blemishes. Because of the high coverage, you don't have to fuss with it- just dab it on and you're good. Plus, you've got less chances of getting that cakey 'I'm obviously hiding something' look. This covers redness really well and doesn't budge once set. It does set really quickly though, so it is best to work in on area at a time or you won't be able to blend it out.

As much as I love this concealer, the packing... Kind of sucks. The slim tube has a thin, cone shaped, sponge tip applicator (for precision application) while I don't like using the tip directly on blemishes, the main issue is that the product oozes up the wand every time you try and close it. The product gets into the cap and is generally just messy (along with being a bit wasteful.) I've finally used enough for the oozing to stop, but I hate how messy the packaging looks. Yes, I'm the type who washes packing to keep it clean. I know I'm not alone.

Overall, these are tow great concealer options! I am loving their addition to my routine. I tend to jump around a lot with concealers, but these have been my regulars since I got them. They're that good. Tried either of these? Do you use separate concealer for your face and eyes? What have been your go-tos lately?
