Formula X #ColourCurators | January, February & March

The first nail polish post of 2016, and I have to say, it's a pretty good one! For 2016, Formula X is collaborating with ten beauty, fashion, and wellness influencers (aka bloggers) who have curated three new limited edition shades. Each moth, the #ColourCurators shades will be revealed. Neat right?! I happen to have the first nine shades created by Aimee Song of Song of Style, Patrick Starr, and Emily Schuman of CupcakesandCashmere.com. I know you want a closer look, so read on!

January's collection of #ColourCurator shades were created by Amiee Song of Song of Style. Her shades were inspired by her love of everyday basics and feature new neutrals 'perfect to accent any outfit'.

Girl's Best Friend is a pale, pastel pink cream, while Mintfluencer continues the pastel theme as a soft mint cream. The trio is rounded out with Nude for You, a creamy, light tan nude. all of the shades have an easy formula that applies without issue in two coats. I have to say, I love the Formula X cream shades, as they always seem to apply so evenly and easily. Even the pastel shades are smooth and easy, with not patchiness or chalkiness.

February's shades were created by beauty vlogger Patric Starr. I'm going to admit that I am obviously out of touch, as I don't know who he is (or any of these #ColourCurators) but he loves him a bit of pink. It only makes sense he's represent February (you know, because of Valentine's Day.)

His shades cover all your pink needs with Yazz a muted bubblegum pink cream, She Better Werk, a medium pastel pink cream, and the stunning, Lucky Starr. Lucky Starr is a vivid hot pink foil that is packed with silver and pink shimmer. Again, all three shades apply beautifully (and easily) with just two coats.

March bring us shades curated by Emily Schman of CashmereandCupcakes.com. And yeah, I don't know who she is, but she's got great shades. Here theme is a bit foodie with Haute Sauce, a coral-kissed red crelly, Peach Tea, a peach pastel cream, and Latte Run a coffee and cream Nude. Of the two nudes, Latte Run has a more pink base with Nude for You (from Song of Style) has a more grey base.

The cream formulas were spot on, just like the previous shades, and only need two coats. I found Haute Sauce's crelly (cream meets jelly) was a bit more transparent and needed three coats to cover visible nail line.

Overall, these are some really cute shades! Granted, they're not super unique, but I dig the curated thing. It will be interesting to see who the other collaborators are and what sort of shades are released. Each curated collection will be around for one month, with limited quantities, so don't wait to snap up your faves. The January shades by Aimee Song are available now (linked within the post) with the coming months to released on the first of that month. What do you think of the shades? Will you be adding any to your stash?
