I love Asian beauty, but I have to admit, I'm not quite up on all of the trends as of late. Luckily for me, the trend I've been most curious about has landed on North American shores. I'm talking cushion makeup, if you were wondering. Cushion foundations have started popping up and I am pretty thrilled. A few brands have options available, but today it's all about the Pur Air Perfection CC Cushion Foundation. Want to know more? Sure you do! You know what to do...
'The flawless finish you love in our lightest foundation makeup ever. Believable coverage that’s lighter than air. Technology that’s light years ahead. Utilizing an innovative liquid-dispensing cushion, Air Perfection cushion foundation delivers ultra high-quality sheer to medium coverage with a unique, mousse-like texture that feels lighter than air. Built for fast, flawless blending, this revolutionary portable light liquid foundation infuses the skin with advanced botanical problem solvers, including the ultimate skincare emollient: Babassu Oil. Native to Brazil, this palm-based ingredient nourishes a dewy soft complexion with intensely hydrating lauric and myristic acids and antioxidant vitamin E.'
As the name suggests, the Pur Air Perfection CC Cushion Foundation is more than just foundation, it's a CC. The foundation is formulated to be moisturizing, smoothing, and protecting with an anti-aging and antioxidant benefits. Basically, it's skincare and colour in one.
The foundation comes packaged in a pearlized, soft pink compact that includes a mirror and sponge applicator/puff thing. Under the sponge you find the cover that snaps shut to keep your cushion hydrated and fresh. The spongy cushion is saturated with the foundation which is applied via the included sponge (go figure...) The actual foundation is a wet liquid that is easily picked up by the provided applicator and smoothed on. I didn't know if I'd love the included applicator, but it does work really well.
The foundation is super light weight- like weightless- and blends with the utmost of ease. I have the shade Light, which is just a hair too dark/warm, but I can make it work pretty well with a bit of tinted powder applied over it. The finish is as natural as bare skin, but the slightest bit dewier, with light, but buildable coverage. While I don't think you're going to get anything more than medium coverage, the light formula does lend itself to layering in areas that might need more coverage.
Overall, I'm kind of loving this foundation! I didn't know what to expect from a cushion foundation but I really love the easy going nature of this formula. It wears pretty well, with a bit of fading by the end of the day, but otherwise issue free. Oh, I almost forgot... Your purchase of the foundation includes two inserts. The first one comes in the compact, with your second sealed up and ready for when you need it. I love that they've made the cushions smaller to keep the product fresh and ensure you can actually use what you've paid for. Have you tried this or any type of cushion makeup? Want to?
