What better way to wrap up the week than with a bit of lipstick. Avon, who are notorious for great lipstick, have rolled out a new formula in the True Colour range with the addition of Avon True Colour Perfectly Matte Lipsticks. Matte lipsticks aren't new, but these... well, they aren't your average matte lipstick. Read on to find out if that's a good or bad thing.

The short answer... they're pretty good! I did have a smidgen of trouble with one shade, but we'll get to that soon enough. The lipstick has an interesting texture, as it's creamy feeling but at the same time a bit powdery. That sounds odd, I know. The lipstick applies totally matte, with a really velvety feel that is comfortable on lips and doesn't dry them out. The shades wear really well, without smudging or fading, but aren't transfer-proof.

Unfortunately, these have the same standard Avon lipstick scent- an odd, artificial fruity thing- that I don't really like. It's not terrible, but I could definitely use some updating.

Avon True Colour Perfectly Matte Lipstick Perfectly Nude

Perfectly Nude is a pale, peachy nude. I really liked this shade in the tube and when swatched, but on my face? Not as much. It just doesn't work that well on my skin tone, and I usually never have that problem being neutral toned. Aside from the shade, the formula didn't like my lips. It accentuated flaws and didn't want to even out. Ugh. Luckily, this was the only problem child of the shades I tried.

Avon True Colour Perfectly Matte Lipstick Ideal Lilac

Ideal Lilac is a blue based pink with just a hint of lilac. It really is more pink than purple, but still a very pretty shade. It happens to be my favourite of the bunch. Unlike Perfectly Nude, this applied really evenly and smoothly.

Avon True Colour Perfectly Matte Lipstick Hot Plum

Hot Plum is a medium depth, plummy-fuchsia that speaks for itself really. In case you don't speak lipstick, it's saying it applies wonderfully, and wears just as easily.

Avon True Colour Perfectly Matte Lipstick Coral Fever

Coral Fever is an oragey-red. Another smooth and easy shade. Enough said.

Avon True Colour Perfectly Matte Lipstick Ravishing Rose

Ravishing Rose is a pink-kissed red. I like reds, but will admit they aren't what I tend to gravitate to. I'm thinking this shade will change that, as it's a great everyday type red.

Overall, I really like these! Perfectly Nude was a dud for me, but otherwise, these are great lipsticks. The matte formula is easy on lips and wears well. It needs a touch up after a few hours, or eating and drinking, but otherwise, stays put. These are a great alternative for those who can't do the super long-lasting liquid lipsticks. What do you think? Are you into matte lipsticks?
