L’Occitane 2016 Women’s Day Solidarity Balm

l'occitane ultra soft balm  (1)::: press sample :::

If one wanted to play the critic, they could very easily find a number of flaws in the beauty industry. There are plenty, but there are also some really great things. Like brands that put forth the effort to better the communities their products and ingredients come from. L'Occitane is one of those brands. They've worked with the women of Burkina Faso who produce shea butter for thirty years and raise funds annually via the sale of their solidarity products. Read for more about this year's Shea Rose Solidarity Ultra Soft Balm.

This year, the product is a specially packaged version of L'Occitane Shea Rose Solidarity Ultra Soft Balm. The tin features a unique design inspired by traditional African Wax fabrics, with the pink signifying the rose formula. L'Occitane always dresses their rose products in pink. Inside the tine, you get a nicely scented balm- rosy, of course- that can be used to moisturize body, lips, and face, The Shea butter based balm has a firm texture that warms in contact with the skin and melts in to deep hydration.

The balm sells for a mere $6 with 100% of proceeds going to the women of Burkina Faso. L'Occitane works with a cooperative of over 17,000 women who produce Shea Butter and through the funds raised, will fund multiple micro-credit programs to further female empowerment in the country.

The balm will be available in L'Occitane Canada stores, and online beginning February 22, but is already available on the US site, and will sell through to after International Women's Day on March 8th. I know I'll be picking up a few to gift to some of my favourite women in honour of International Women's Day and I encourage you to do the same. Hydration for you and a brighter future for women of the world. It's a win-win really! What do you think? Will you be purchasing a tin?
