Let's give this dull day (at least it is here...) a shot of light with the gorgeous bunch of colours that is the Essie Spring 2016.This year Essie is offering up an interesting collection of hues. There are some standard options, and a few that don't exactly say spring, but are so pretty you won't even care. Want a closer look? Read on!
High Class Affair is a nude meets blush cream. The nude makes this a bit different than your basic pastel pink and makes it a shade you'll reach for year round. The formula was a little uneven on the first coat, but very opaque and evens well. Two coats.
Lounge Lover is a peachy-pink. I know, peachy pinks aren't all that unique, but this shade is vivid and so pretty with a really easy formula. Two coats.
Sunshine Sate of Mind is what Essie calls a 'blazing coral tangelo'. I call it a coral-ish-orange with just the hint of dustiness. I'm not always an orange fan, but I LOVE this shade. It also has a loveable formula that's smooth, pigmented, and just plain easy going. Two coats.
Shades On is a grape-y violet with a hint of dustiness. It's a stunner and has a pretty much perfect formulation that applies in just one coat One coat is always nice.
Pool Side Service is a dusty green with just a bit of a grey undertone. This shade isn't your typical spring fare, but is a nice way to shift from winter hues to lighter fare. Another easy formula. Two coats.
Off Tropic is a deep, forest green. It's not spring in any way, but you can't deny this is a perfect deep green in both colour and formula. Why? It's a one coater! Yup. This deep green applied perfectly with one coat- so long as you don't go too thin.
Essie Spring 2016 High Class Affair, Lounge Lover, Sunshine State of Mind, Shades On, Pool Side Service, and Off Tropic 13.5 ml $8.50 USD / $11 CAD
Overall, I'm a fan of this collection! I like the unexpected shades and that the formulas are so spot on. My nails don't always agree so well with the Essie formula (read it chips way too quickly) but for shades like these, I'll gladly re-apply more often. What do you think? Any shades you're feeling?
