Happy Monday, blog fans! I'll be honest with you, this is a Monday I'm just not feeling. It's feels like a Monday, Ugh. One thing that does make it a little bit better are the gorgeous liquid lipsticks I get to chat about- the LA Splash Dia de los Muertos Studio Shine Lip Lustres! The Dis de los Muertos collection was really hyped thanks to the specially designed packaging and the complexity of the shades (one is duo-chrome!) Is the hype warranted? You're going to have to read on to find out...

So, the hype... For the most part, it's totally warranted! The collection consists of six shades, of which I've received three- Guadalupe, Valentina, and Catrina. Of the shades I don't have there is a metallic blue (Sangre Azule), a blue violet (Amore Eterno), and a deep purple (Hasta la Muerte). The collection definitely isn't for the shy, as all of the colours are bold and fall on the more creative side.

As mentioned, this collection was made popular by both the shades (more on those in a moment) and the packaging. The limited edition packaging is your standard LA Splash tube, but with a cap decorated in sugar skull illustrations to correspond with each shade. The tops of the caps are even decorated with the shade name which is a really cute touch. While these shades are no longer limited edition- they're now permanent!- the packaging is. Meaning, if you order them now, you might not get the special packaging.

Okay, onto the shades!

Guadalupe is a golden-copper shade with a metallic finish. It's amazing! I wasn't so sure about this shade in the tube as it reads more orange, but on the lip it's a really gorgeous shade. The reflective properties of the metallic finish gives this a bit of a sheen, but it is in fact a fully matte finish with a long-wearing, budge-proof formula..

Valentina is a deep, vampy, plummy-red. The Studio Shine Lip Lustres all tend to have some sort of shimmer or glow in them and while you can see some fine luminosity in this in the tube, it doesn't translate in swatches or on the lip. This shade applies pretty well, but does need two thin coats to get a fully even coverage.

Catrina... Just look at her! Catrina is a taupey-brown with a teal-blue duo-chrome (think MAC Club, but for lips.) This shade was/is the most popular of the collection, and for good reason- it's incredible! I really didn't think I'd love this shade on me, but it's much more wearable than you'd think. I'm serious. The duo-chrome shift is apparent, but not too over the top.

Overall, I love these shades! I really like that LA Splash is constantly creating new shades with everyone in mind- their other new collection is made up of more neutrals and pinks (see them next week!) They know not everyone is into the more novelty type shades, but does a great job of catering to all of their fans. I've spoken about the formula of their liquid lipsticks a few times already, but what you're getting is a fully matte, long-wearing liquid lipstick. The wear time is incredible and these can last all day depending on what you eat- oily foods will creak down the colour. What do you think of these shades? Would you wear any of them? Do you have any favourite LA Splash liquid lipsticks?
