Upfront: I don't know who Laura G is. I'm blissfully unaware when it comes to a lot of the 'beauty gurus' on Youtube and Instagram. I do happen to be a fan of her collaboration with LA Splash however. The Forbidden Kiss Collection of Velvet Matte Liquid Lipsticks is kind of perfect with romantic nudes, pinks, and a sultry plum. I'm getting ahead of myself though, so read on for all the details!
LA Splash "Forbidden Kiss" by Laura G Velvet Matte Liquid Lipsticks in Exposed, Irresistible, and Mistress 3 ml $14 USD / $18.99 CAD
"Introducing the forbidden kiss collection, fall in love with 6 custom shades infused with a custom fragrance blend special for the holidays, enriched with Vitamin E to for a matte finish without drying your lips." - LA SplashLA Splash has a few different ranges of matte liquid lipsticks, with the Velvet Matte being the newest. The formula is similar to their others, but is a little bit softer feeling once dry and a bit easier to wear during their impressive wear time (6-8 hours) thanks to the addition of Vitamin E. The formula is also said to have a special scent- a light but sweet, candy-type scent- but I was only able to detect it in one of the shades I've tried.
Of the six shade collection, I've sampled Exposed (coffee and cream nude) Irresistible (blush nude) and Mistress (deep, blackened plum). Exposed and Irresistible both have easy formulas that apply with one coat and no fuss. Mistress on the other hand, needs a bit of babying. It applies patchy, and as such needs three coats to even out. As long as you let each coat dry before applying the next, wear isn't effected. When you don't let each coat dry properly the lipstick is prone to flaking and never quite sets properly.
Overall, I love the shades in this collection and am considering picking up the other three. If you're a fan of matte, liquid lipsticks, you really can't go wrong with the LA Splash options. What do you think of these shades? Are you a fan of LA Splash?
