OPI Retro Summer Collection | Summer 2016

OPI Retro Summer Collection Summer 2016 (1)::: press sample / affiliate links :::

OPI has been extra busy this season, as the new collections just keep coming. Their newest batch of hues, Retro Summer, brings soft and bold cream shades perfect for warm, sunny days. While the shades are undeniably pretty, polish collectors likely have similar shades already. These will make great additions if you're newer to the wide world of polish though. Enough chatter though, let's get to the swatches!

"OPI rolls out the sweet, insouciant days of summer with the limited-edition Retro Summer Nail Lacquer Collection perfect for luxuriating on the French Riviera, vintage-style. The ultimate vacation from drab and dull, the sun and sky-drenched colors of Retro Summer 2016 channel the throwback fashions that ruled the season's runways. Think swimsuits with structural silhouettes, crop tops, cut outs, and the return of the waist." - OPI

What's the Double Scoop is a strawberry ice cream pink cream. The formula is on the thinner side, which lead to some patchiness. It reached opacity on the second coat, but I still needed a third for a fully even finish. Three coats.

Flip Flops & Crop Tops is a bright pink cream. I love that it's vivid without being neon and applies really easily with two coats. Two coats.

SPF XXX is a coral-kissed orange cream. It's bright and perfectly summery and has an pretty easy going formula to match. Two coats.

I'm Getting a Tan-gerine is a peachy-yellow (or a yellow-y peach?) cream. It's the one shade out of the bunch that seems a bit more unique as I can't think of anything similar. The formula is thin and prone to streaking if you don't use a light hand. Two coats.

Towel Me About It is a pale yellow. I'm not much of a yellow fan, but I do like a pale yellow, so this is perfect for me. Another thinner formula that reached opacity on two coats but needed a third for even coverage. Three coats.

Sailing & Nail-ing is a crisp light blue cream. It's pretty, but I'm pretty sure most blue fans have this shade lurking in their stash already. Yet another thin formula, but it does build pretty easily. Two coats.

All in all, this collection is cute, but not super unique. Of the batch my favourites are I'm Getting a Tan-gerine and Towel Me About it. What do you think? Need any of these shades in you stash?
