Today has been a perfectly dreary and rainy fall day, and I kind of love it. I may be in the minority, but I enjoy a dark, rainy day every now and then. A cuddly spot to watch the rain, a book and tea... Heavenly. Also on the list of heavenly is the new addition to the Burberry perfume family. My Burberry Black has been the only scent I've been wearing lately, and with good reason- it's amazing,
"A new fragrance joining the My Burberry collection, My Burberry Black follows the same codes of craftsmanship, innovation, and appreciation of the iconic Heritage Trench Coat. My Burberry Black travels back to a London garden amidst a gathering storm, heavy rain contrasting with the warm and captivating floral notes."With notes of 'Sun-drenched Jasmine, Peach Nectar, Candied Rose, and Amber Patchouli' My Burberry Black is a sweet and sexy feeling floral with a warmth that makes it an excellent fall scent. When first sprayed it seems to have everything going on at once, and initially didn't impress me. As it settles though, you get the rich and sweet notes that become perfection. I find it interesting that there are only four notes, as this scent has a much more layered and complex smell on skin.
I haven't had the chance to preview the original My Burrberry, so there will be no comparison from me, but I can say that all of the sweet and gourmand lovers will want to go for Black more than the original. I love a sweeter scent, so I really enjoy the candied element that comes through, but for those not so inclined, don't worry. The warmth and almost spiced notes of the amber patchouli stop it from being cloyingly sweet.
Overall, I am a total fan of this scent! I tend to shy away from scents with patchouli, as it just isn't a favourite of mine, but the jasmine and candied notes work so well with it that it's a non-issue for my nose. And, how could I not mention the bottle? The packaging is very simple, but elegantly so with gold lettering and a simple black gabardine knot. The horn-finish cap adds added style and is designed to echo the look of the buttons on the ionic Burberry trench. What do you think? Does this sound like your type of scent? What's your go-to fall scent?
