November is just around the corner, so that means... A new Pearlesque Box! I was very thrilled to get the chance to feature them yet again, and doubly thrilled that this month's box features Province Apothecary, a Canadian brand. If you missed my last Pearlesque Box posts, and are wondering what it's all about, I suggest checking one out (here). It features a bit more info as to what you can expect with a Pearlesque Box subscription (like only full size, organic, and natural products.) If you're ready, let's get to some Province Apothecary goodness!
"After struggling with allergies and eczema all her life, Julie Clark began crafting natural, organic beauty products out of her kitchen. Despite her busy schedule as a costume designer and stylist, Julie found herself drawn to holistic skincare, using her time off to experiment with oils, waxes and herbs- all in pursuit of the perfect skin care regime. In 2010 Julie began studying Aromatherapy, Holistic Health and Esthetics in Toronto. Here she formed the foundation of her skincare expertise, experimenting with raw materials and natural ingredients.
Province Apothecary began with the mission to produce the best skincare products using only high quality, certified organic, biodynamic and wildcrafted ingredients sourced from each Canadian provinces. Julie expertly formulates, blends, and packages all products by hand in small batches, ensuring the highest quality skincare for you. She is blending the wilds of Canada into nourishing and balancing skincare. "
Province Apothecary Moisturizing Cleanser + Make-Up Remover 120 ml $44 CAD
I've only had these products for a few days, but I've been able to sample most of them to give you a little perspective. The Moisturizing Cleanser + Make-Up Remover is an oil based cleaner that works to break down makeup, cleanse, and hydrate dry/normal/ sensitive skin. The blend of sunflower, jojoba, avocado, evening primrose, and raspberry seed oil is nourishing and gentle on skin and does break down makeup very well. I found there to be a bit of a an oily feel on skin after rinsing (unlike some cleansing oils this doesn't emulsify) so I will be using it as my first cleanser when I double cleanse. It does leave skin feeling pretty incredible otherwise, as it's soft and hydrated right after rinsing.
Province Apothecary Invigorating Balancing Toner 120 ml $42 CAD
As a lover of toner and mists, the Invigorating Balancing Toner was very nice to see included this month. The toner features rose and geranium as it's star ingredients, but the supporting cast isn't at all shabby with lavender flower water, colloidal silver, rosemary leaf extract, and clary sage oil (among others.) A mist (or four...) of the toner balances skin, soothes, and and can aid in reducing the appearance of scars thanks to geranium oil. This also has a great herbal-floral scent that is quite nice. I'm really happy that this comes in a generous bottle, as I am already quite fond of it.
Rejuvenating Hydrating Face Serum 7 ml $26
Part of what makes Pearlesque Box unique, is that they offer full size products each month, but from time to time they also include travel sized extras. Province Apothecary offers most of their products in various sizes and as such Pearlesque Box included a variety of sizes to offer more selection in this moth's box. The Rejuvinating Hydrating Face Serum looks itty-bitty, but it's a concentrated formula. To use, you take a few drops (6-12) in your hand and mix with an equal amount of water, then apply.
The serum features apricot kernel, pumpkin, jojoba seed, avocado, grape seed, pomegranate, and raspberry seed oil to replenish skin while hydrating and stimulating cell turn over. The blend is high in antioxidants, is soothing, and can reduce redness and the appearance of scars.
Province Apothecary Regenerating + Stimulating Exfoliator 30 ml $16 CAD | Province Apothecary Detoxifying+ Clarifying Clay Mask 30 ml $18 CAD
Scrubs and masks! Both are always welcome products, so I was really interested in these offerings. I was even more interested when I discovered that these are dry blends that you mix before use.
The Regenerating + Stimulating Exfoliator features lavender (calming and healing), oatmeal (softening and nourishing), and green tea (stimulating and rejuvenating) to to gently exfoliate all skin types. To use, you mix one teaspoon of mask with one teaspoon of liquid (water, oil, honey, or yogurt depending on skin type/ concern.)
The Detoxifying + Clarifying Clay Mask features Rhassoul Clay, Kaolin Clay, Bentonite Clay, Canadian Algae, BC Glacial Marine Clay and Maple Syrup (how Canadian!) and works to getnly draw out impurities, clear pores, tighten skin, and stimulate collagen production. If you were wondering, maple syrup 'mineralizes the skin and neutralizes free radicals, giving your skin a healthy glow and smooth tone.' Usage is the same as the exfoliator, which is pretty awesome as you get a fully customizable experience.
Overall, I'm enjoying Province Apothecary. I love that Pearlesque Box aids in discovering something you may have otherwise never found, especially this month as it's a Canadian brand.
