Holiday Pretties | Quo Holiday Collection 2016

quo holiday 2016
::: press sample :::

It doesn't feel like holiday season at all... Maybe it's the unseasonably warm weather, but if it wasn't for the heap of holiday product piling up, I wouldn't now it was mid November already. But it is, so let's get to some really cute holiday offerings from Quo. Now, if you're not a Canadian (which many of you aren't according to my demographics) Quo is the house brand of our big drugstore chain, Shoppers Drug Mart. If you've ever watched Drake's Started From the Bottom, you've seen one.

First up, a little shadow and brush combo. The Eyeshadow Contour Set combines two shadow brushes- Quo is known for having some pretty great brushes- and a neutral basics type palette. The shadows are all matte, save for the centre circle which is a soft shimmer, with the idea of contouring the eye for a natural effect. While the shadows have a it of a powdery feel, they apply nicely with pretty good pigmentation. Some the lighter shades look very similar in the compact, they do look unique on eyes. The brushes work well with this palette, and are very soft and feel well made.

Brows are a 'trend' that isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so I can see this little kit being quite popular. The Brow Beauty Eyebrow Kit contains everything needed to groom, fill, and set brows with mini tools (tweezers, angled brush, and spoolie), stencils (three sizes), highlight shade, two brow powders, and brow wax. I do wish there was a darker shade option, as the deepest is medium at best, but this is a great starter kit for those with light-medium dark hair/brows.

Quo's polish range is a collaborative effort with Orly, and to ring in the holidays, they're offering the Best of the Best 6-Piece Mini Nail Lacquer Set. The set includes 6 bestsellers from the core collection in mini form. Very cute, but I do wish they came with names. I found they all applied really easily with two coats (even the neons!) and the brush in the bottle isn't so small that you have to struggle to apply polish.

I found some unexpected favourites in the Luxury Lipstick Wardrobe. The four matte lipsticks are pretty amazing! Okay, not so much Matte Creme (nude) which is kind of powdery (like a cream to powder feel) that just didn't sit well on lips. The other three shades though, pretty much perfect. They offer a soft, velvety matte finish that's non-drying and wears well for a few hours.

Last up, a little holiday glow in the form of the Soft Focus Highlighting Palette. This palette caused me a little bit of confusion initially, as these don't really look like highlighters in the palette. Add to that the fact that when swatched, they seemed more like slightly radiant powders that true highlighters. They do have a bit of a powdery base, but when applied to the face, they really glow and give a great sheen. I've been pleasantly pleased with how these wear. The first beige shade is the most subtle, but the ivory and gold shades both offer a fairly strong radiance. The palette comes with two face brushes that work perfectly with the powders and have a soft bristles and feel like they'll be durable for the long haul.

Overall, some great gifting (and getting) options from Quo. They have a huge offering of holiday sets/products this year (27 to be exact!) ranging in price from $3-$100, meaning there is something for every taste and budget. What do you think? Would you like to gift or get any of these products?
