A holiday themed edition of Lip Lovin'? You bet. A Kat Von D edition? Even better! As it turn out Kat Von D is all about lips this holiday season, as the bulk of the brand's offerings are lip products. It makes sense, as KVD is known for some amazing lipsticks.
For the holiday season, the Studded Kiss lipsticks have gotten a makeover. The limited edition (and already scarce) Holiday Kiss Collection Studded Kiss Lipsticks are housed in metallic gunmetal tubes. They still have the studded effect, but are quite sleek with the metal look. The Holiday Kiss Collection features three shades- Lolita II (terra cotta nude) Double Dare (cocoa blush) and Mother (dusty mauve-pink) that are recreations of best selling Everlasting Liquid Lipstick shades. While you still get a matte finish, the Studded Kiss formula is easy on lips, smells like crème brûlée (yum!) and wears for hours.
I received Double Dare, which is exactly as described, a cocoa blush shade. It's gougers! It's just rosy enough to be more easily wearable that a true brown, and makes for an excellent everyday shade. Unfortunately, it does show up as sold out on the Sephora site (US and Canadian) but there is always hope a few more will be become available.
Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Santa Sangre, Mother, Lovesick, Backstage Bambi, L.U.V, Echo, Plath, and Roxy
Liquid lipstick fans know KVD does them well, and to lure you into adding a few more to your collection is the Everlasting Mini Liquid Lipstick Set. The set features 8 mini (more like half size as a full size tube is 6.6 ml) tubes to create an instant wardrobe of glorious lip shades. I love the Everlasting formula, as it's less drying than others, wears easily for hours (it's very rare to experience flaking or weird patches wearing away) and the shades are vivid and plentiful. There is something for all lipstick fans in this set with two new exclusive shades (Plath and Roxy) including:
- Santa Sangre- classic red
- Mother- dusty mauve pink (a long time personal favourite)
- Lovesick- mauve-nude (this one too ^)
- Backstage Bambi- vivid bright pink
- L.U.V- rich pink-violet
- Echo- indigo-blue (the purple hues didn't read in photos, but this isn't a true navy)
- Plath- deep red-brown
- Roxy- vivid grape
Overall, excellent offering from KVD! The liquid lipstick set is obviously a great gift, but also something any liquid lipstick fan is going to want in their makeup bag. It's a great way to sample shades you might not want to commit to in full size. What do you think? Interested in either? Do you have a favourite KVD shade?
