Happy Monday, blog fans! I'll admit, I'm feeling a smidge deflated already. I tend to plan my week of blog coverage on the weekends, which I did for this upcoming week as we're reaching the home stretch before the holidays start. I knew I needed to get this super adorable Too Faced offering up asap. As of Saturday, it was available, and as of now? Not so much. I'm going to blog it anyway, but if you're were holding out hope on picking it up, you're likely out of luck unless you search stores.
The Too Faced Chocolate Shop set/palette is all kinds of cute. If there is one thing TF knows, it's how to bring on the cute. The boxed set opens to reveal a pop-up style scene of a couple window shopping. In the window, a deluxe sample size Too Faced Shadow Insurance, Better Than Sex Mascara (full review here), and Melted Chocolate Liquified Long-Wear Lipstick in Chocolate Milkshake.
The Chocolate Milkshake shade is a warm, milk chocolate brown shade and a great paring for the eye looks you can create with the palette in this set. The Melted formula is easy wearing on lips, as it doesn't set or dry down, but it long-wearing.
The lower flap of the fold-out box is home to The Chocolate Shop Palette. The palette pops out of the packaging, so you don't have to keep/store the larger box should you not want to (really, who has that kind of space?) The palette includes 21 chocolate scented shadows, and a highlight (Inner Light), Chocolate Soliel Bronzer, and blush (Chocolate Covered Strawberry.) Like most Too Faced palettes, this also includes a look book, which shows four looks create-able with the set.
The palette is designed to be sectioned off into three sections with Dessert's On Me, occupying the first two rows with more sweet and soft neutrals. Next, the Gingerdoodle section, which features warm neutrals and browns, followed by Sugar Belles, which has more colour and mostly metallic/shimmer/glitter finishes.
You've likely already seen reviews of this palette, so I won't get super into it, but this is not an example of Too Faced best product. The shadows are very hit and miss, but the hits are far and few between. Now, the overall quality is not as bad I expected, as there are a few amazing shades but the duds as spectacularly bad. The bulk of the mattes are very sheer and the few that did have good pigmentation, prove to be chalky and need a ton of work to apply evenly.
Too Faced Chocolate Shop Inner Light Luminizer, Chocolate Soleil Bronzer, and Chocolate Covered Strawberry Blush
The face powders, on the other hand, are pretty great. The Inner Light Luminzier is a gorgeous peachy-rose gold shade that really shines on skin. The bronzer is too dark for me as bronzer (I like the Milk Chocolate version) but does wear well as a shadow. I am really liking the Chocolate Covered Strawberry Blush, as it's a pretty mauve-pink shade that gives a nice flush to cheeks.
Overall, this palette brings the cute, and would make anyone smile, but the quality isn't true to what Too Faced usually offers. The shadows are useable, but some take a bit more effort and don't give their all in the pigmentation department. What do you think? Did you snag this set? Would you like to give or get it?
