I don't know exactly when you'll read this, as my current self (which by this point is my past self) is getting organized and writing up some posts in advance. Go me! Anyway, at present, it's snowing and the weather is absolute shi sugar, complete with bitter cold. You know where this is going, especially if you tend to have dry skin year round. The combination of indoor heating and the super cold turns skin into a flaky, dry (and if you're lucky) itchy mess. There are many ways to combat the winter dry, but one of my favourites is a liberal slathering of good ol' body butter. My current favourites come from BVSpa by Bon Vital as they smell incredible and bring a hefty does of hydration.

A few months ago, we chatted about the BVSpa salt & sugar scrubs (which can also play a part in your winter dryness alleviation team) and since then, I was able to try their incredible body butters. BVSpa products use spa-quality ingredients including essential oils, shea butter, cocoa seed butter, and jojoba oil to nourish and hydrate skin. If that's not enough for you, the three fragrance combos- Pomegranate & Acai Berry, Lavender & Rosemary, and Pink grapefruit- were specifically selected for their aroma-therapeutic nature to rejuvenate, sooth and relax, and energize.

I've been sampling my way through each of the scents, and am hard pressed to pick a favourite as they're all really great. I didn't expect to like the Lavender & Rosemary, but it's sweeter than I expected and so soothing. It's actually become my most used of the three. Pomegranate & Acai Berry also has a sweet element, but with an added tartness, while Grapefruit is invigorating and bright with the scent of fresh cut grapefruit.

The body butter has the thick, rich texture you'd expect of a butter, but it lacks a heavy feel on skin. You get instant and long lasting hydration without a greasy feel. I like to use this at night so it can really sink in (I also tend to apply it pretty liberally) but it's not a butter that takes forever to absorb and doesn't need to really be massaged on.

Overall, I really love these body butters! The $11 price point is perfect and in Canada, you can easily pick up BVSpa products at Shoppers Drug Mart locations. I love the scent options, and that they're naturally derived. Do you suffer from winter dry out? What do you reach for to hydrate? Tried anything from BVSpa?
