It's seems to be the season of the lip product, and I for one, don't mind one bit. I have been especially excited about the lip products we're going to be chatting up today, as I love me a bit of Make Up For Ever, and they rarely disappoint. They've recently dipped into the matte liquid lipstick pool with the launch of their Artist Liquid Matte Lip Colours which happen to partner well with another recent launch, the Ultra HD Lip Booster. A match made in product heaven, really.

Anyone who wears mattes, especially liquid mattes, knows keeping lips hydrated is key. Even the best product will look less than stellar if it's applied to flaky, parched skin. The Ultra HD Lip Booster is an ingenious little product that works to repair, smooth, and plump lips. Hold up. Plump as in that healthy, hydrated, skincare kind of plump not the tinging burning, why did I do this to myself kind of plumping.

Formulated with a blend of loofah oil and hyaluronic acid, the lightweight serum feels instantly hydrating as it melts into skin with a non-sticky feel. The oversized doe foot-style applicator coats lips in one swipe leaving a soft, glossy sheen. The texture is super light, and will work under most lipsticks, but for liquid lipstick I suggest giving it a quick blot so it doesn't affect the dry down. The booster is available in clear- perfect for those who plan on using this pre-lipstick, or in 01 Light Pink for a wash of sheer colour.

As mentioned, the booster is perfect for prepping lips, which is usually a step not worth skipping when applying a matte liquid lipstick, but the Artist Liquid Matte Lip Colour aren't your average lipstick. Yes, they dry to a matte finish, but it's not as firm and dry as most liquid lipsticks. The almost mousse-y texture of the wet lipstick dries slowly to a soft feeling matte finish that is pretty incredible. It's not drying in the least, and retains its soft feel throughout its 5-6 hour wear time. I do find these leave the slightest whisper of transfer on some surfaces, and don't wear a solid 8 hours like some liquid lipsticks, but the trade off for a more comfortable and non-drying finish is worth needing to touch up.

The formula is perfectly opaque in one swipe, with no need to layer up for full depth of colour or an even finish. The is truly one and done. While I do find the formula takes a few moments long to dry, you can close your mouth or press your lips together without them sticking or disrupting the dry down process.

Of the six shades currently available, all are in the neural-nude range. All of them are appealing (who doesn't love a nude lip?) but I was especially drawn to shade 105 Rosewood (mauve-rose nude), 107 Natural Beige (chocolate-taupe), and 203 Cold Pink (mave-pink.) I love that the shades have that everyday wearability, but are far from boring.

Overall, I am absolutely smitten with both of these lip offerings! The lip booster is unlike any gloss, balm, or treatment I've previously used, and I can't get enough of the easy wearing texture of the liquid lipsticks. I'm hoping MUFE has plans to add a few more shades as I kind of want a full wardrobe of them. Too much to ask? What do you think? Interested in trying either of these products or tried them already? What's your go-to liquid lipstick?
